Unbelievably Lucky
So I've been trying out a goblin team after my Underworld stopped getting many game offers (3 claws on my team and suddenly none of the bash teams have the guts to front up to a team composed primarily of two headed goblins). I figured what the heck, this will be fun, and just for giggles I'll limit the team to just one secret weapon to see how that plays.
Anyways, 11 games in and I've won more than I've lost (5/2/4) - the problem is many of the wins haven't been as fun as I expected with opposition coaches getting upset, annoyed and even angry at losing, at me, and at my 'unbelievable luck' (please note it has only been some, not all, opponents - several have been very pleasant to play against win or loss and simply express slightly amused bemusement at the score line and their casualties - in no way is this meant to be name and shame against the coaches I've defeated and I have deliberately waited until their names are lost in the mix of other wins to make them as unidentifiable as possible).
So where am I going wrong - is it really so unusual for a goblin team to win - are moves like crowd surfing a ST4 blodger with a ST2 rookie gobbo (44.4% chance of success) or making 2 stunty dodges and a couple of gfis with dodge and TRRs available to score (about 60% chance of success) really that unusual moves? Do people really think a goblin team isn't going to foul every turn they get the chance against big bashy opposition (I mean it is goblins and it is bloodbowl after all)? Should I pick my opponents rather than accepting challenges made against me (on the assumption anyone who challenges gobbos with bashy teams must be only interested in an easy win)? Perhaps I should only play Dwarves or should I play my gobbos to lose against any opponent other than Flings or Ogres? Am I really being so fluky (if so sod off lady luck)?
Don't get me wrong I'm still really enjoying the majority of games, and all of the losses where my opponents have been always very gracious, but having to effectively apologise to opponents for succeeding at a critical 4+ roll just takes the shine off the game and almost makes me want to lose so can just enjoy.
Perhaps I should try playing a team of halflings without treemen - there is no way I could win with them...

1) Grats on a good record.
2) In my experience the less good the opposition the more they focus on 'luck'. And there's a big difference between a coach taking on a -2db to surf an important player and a needless one. Particularly with goblins you often have no choice but to go for the slightly risky play.

I only take a saw on my gobbos and have a decent record. I'm thinking of adding a bomber for defence though

agree with Harad's comment above. I've on occasion seen the same reaction, but it's a small percentage of the coaches. One coach stated they would never play me again because I was fouling his players. ^^ With goblins, they have to hit hard & early to have a chance to win. And yes, coaches that start calling you a lucker, etc. are annoying and take the fun out of the game.

Less experienced/skilled players often think of the novelty and stunty sides as an easy mark, and get frustrated fast when they don't understand the odds of success for an action. I just ignore the rare coaches who get annoyed and carry on playing for fun.

Maybe we need a code like (FF) (for fun) in team names so when game findering we can easily spot someone else who wants an enjoyable game over a win

Yeah bigbullies, I have a Nurgle team composed of ex-elves who long for their previous elf-balling glory! as well as an all skink team(+1 big skink). I get a lot of declines that seem to be race based, but it's hard to tell. I like that idea though ^^

Yeah some coaches are horrbily bad losers who cannot for the life of them enjoy a game they expected to win but are losing, and need to make sure that their opponent isn't enjoying it either. I wish I could say it's limited to very new/inexperienced/bad coaches, but sadly you'll find that "quality" in some very good coaches also.
This game can sometimes be frustrating and sure I'm not always holding it together as well as I should, but at least I try, and that's really what everybody should do imho, that's just basic human courtesy.
