Following AxeDirect's buy-out of the original Sluggers, and the renaming of their old ground the AxeDirect Arena, the Sluggers are gearing up for their new season, having won 3 of their last 4 to successfully blow up their draft position. Can their desperate chucking-and-hoping better their last season record of 4/1/11? New blood has been brought in to help with that quest!
With only two picks in the draft, Talabheim hit the trade market to fill a gap at Blitzer following the untimely death of, err, about seven other blitzers. George Connor was brought over from Marienburg in a straight swap for Scott McCready. Only three games into his DLE career, George has already drawn blood - and impressed scouts with stone-cold temperament needed to become a killer.
Arik Armstead is the marquee draft pick, taken #5 over all. This lineman bruiser can drag any opponent to the ground and joins the high strength triumvarite of Slugg Jnr, Jordan and Toretto. He's unkempt, and he's as good as he's gonna get, but what a brawler!
Finally, it doesn't take long watching the Sluggers to see they needed some composure - so with their 4th round pick they picked up Wurmsbad college prospect Veronika Roderickson, 'The Stirland Cannon'. 8 completions in 6 college games, and a natural leader on the pitch, she'll be used on special plays to bring order to their rumbunctious style, and as a backup to Ray 'Pretty' Moore.
You may have I've heard very bad, bad bad things about Talabheim people, but welcome - by order of the Sluggers!
