It's amazing. If it were not for FUMBBL, I wouldn't even know the World Cup was happening. Hell, I wouldn't even know USA had a soccer team. I just discovered that the MLS is still going on....I thought that went bust years ago. But let me tell you, I never miss a day when Football is being played! :-)

The US played a good game. The total amount of time they were not ahead in goals was about 4 minutes. If you conserve your energy in such a way in such a worldcup you're doing it better than teams that think they have to score 3 or 4 times.

The amount of times that the US gave the ball away under no pressure was just frightening. Ghana are a limited team but it was a good win and I had a sneaky suspicion that America would have too much for them.

Of course now they play Portugal who have to win (though a draw might be enough as long as Germany beat Ghana and the US - both of which look likely). This looks as though it will be a really fascinating game if only to see if Portugal minus two defenders and their starting Centre Forward crumble or dig deep to get a result. As ever, it looks as though it will revolve around Ronaldo and if America defend against him like they did against Ghana then they could easily concede two or three and I don't see enough goals in the American team to be able to match up with that.

Very enjoyable game last night though and vindicated my decision to not bother watching Nigeria v Iran.
