The (few) times you meet an assassin knock him down, keep your important players out of reach and never let a player in contact with him.
They're not much used because they're kind of useless against av8+ teams, expensive and fragile.
I understand when frustration kicks in, don't let this overcome your game, that's what really screws you, as you realised by yourself.
BloodBowl is a frustrating game at times, and it will always be, it's meant to be so, i find good coaches (not me then) i played are the ones that follow the plan and stay rational even when everything is falling to pieces.
Keep it up and don't be let down, maybe next time you'll get together some nice rolls for a T16 TD win and feel like this is the best game in the world =)!!!

I can't wait to hear your opinion of chainsaws when you face them ;)
If the other coach also takes a bribe or 2...

Yep, its the learning experience... AV7 vs stab can leave you with a bit of damage... but either hit them (skill-less ST3 losers that they are) or use your AG4 to get away... Unless he's blitz-stabbing (which is not a great option) you shouldn't ever have to worry about them if you play the right tactic.
Which you didn't, but now you do and that's what learning is all about :-)

"Anyway the frustration is because of assassins 'stab' not requiring any roll - you just get to do damage pure and simple."
Well you need to do an armor roll before you can do the damage roll. That does not come clear from your text.
