“1st round game in the Aesir Open III sees my full team of undead matched against 12 elves.
1st Half:
Undead win the toss and receive. Before any action takes place a fan throws a rock and BH's the elves only catcher - biggest scoring threat gone before it even starts. Kick goes to the right side of the formation and the undead cage quickly forms there. A group of ghouls screens along the sideline and advances to the corner to set up for a stall against the shorthanded elves. Mel Torme does some fancy footwork on a str4 elf who is SI'd (-str, no apo used) and the biggest defensive threat is gone. Elves make one move on the ball but the dodge into a tz fails and the blitzer is stunned. Undead milk it to turn 8. 1-0.
2nd Half:
Undead kick short to the elves right and the thrower fails to pick up the ball. A ghoul runs in a scoops in up in the thrower's tz and dodges back behind a weak screen. Elves shoot around, mark, blitz and ko the ghoul - ball bounces between two undead. A brave elf runs between them, scoops the ball and hands it to the thrower who gets left open after another elf fails a dodge. Undead mark and blitz the ball free and a ghoul fails a gfi to fall upon the ball which squirts through the marker's and then the blitzer's rotting hands. Elves grab the ball back and whip it downfield to a waiting elf who is quickly joined by two others. Undead swarm the group and a wight w/tackle knocks the ballcarrier down on a 1-die block. Ball jumps into the hands of a mummy (!) and the undead again advance (albeit very, very slowly) in a cage. On the final turn, the mummy is blitzed free (reroll used) to hand the ball to a waiting wight (no reroll) for the score. 2-0.
Chuckle moment:
Walks_in_the_Sun said his team attracted alot of "thrown rock" ko results and this game was true to form as 2 elves were taken out by them.
Postgame:
Ghoul was niggled and will be retired as we have enough cash to replace him before next round. Won, scored twice and inflicted 2 cas. but no ff increase. 1st time we've gotten out of the 1st round of a tourney since the 1st tourney of the year. Now onto a matchup that's the exact opposite of this one...dwarves.”
