Deep in the caverns under the University of Nuln’s Literature wing, a secret enclave of poets gather to read their forbidden scrawlings by torchlight. Their poems are terrible: free verse musings on different cheeses, a string of sonnets about the Mighty Zug, so very many villanelles.

One night, however, GiGi Calcompton accidentally voiced the Cursed Slant Rhyme, filling the players with destructive energies too gruesome for words. Realizing that this power could be harnessed, Professor Snoopler (head judge of the night's session) called his friend from the business school, Thackery Hacknon, and arranged an exhibition Blood Bowl match for the young poets as a test. When the blood-misted air cleared, all that was left of their opponents was a single femur, and a new Blood Bowl team was born.

Hacknon moved the team out to a small Imperial outpost called Dreadheim after reading that they were looking to form a Blood Bowl team (the mayor is a real fanatic for the sport). Now, the Dreadheim Poetic Society plays for fame and fortune, hoping some day to be able to read their horrifying poetry to the entire world on live CabalVision. Beware!
