I have this problem too. It seems to be related to:
(a) the use of powerline adaptors for my internet - these just don't seem to play well with the client; and/or
(b) my computer simultaneously using bandwidth for other things - any disruption to the exchange of data that the client manages seems to cause the connection to drop, and the only way to fix it is to restart the client.

a couple weeks ago I had the same problem. Play a few games with no problem at all, then boom...can't keep a connection to the game. Speed test is fine. Rest of internet, fine. fumbbl fine...but just can't connect to the game. After some time...all is ok again.
sometimes restarting server works. sometimes reloading java. sometimes restarting computer...but all that is just black magic. When it works and which one works...all random.
good news is it hasn't happened for awhile now.

The client is very vulnerable to even small disruptions of the connection to the server. (Might be partly intentionell to discurage tampering with the data)
Webbrowser and streaming services have nowadays technical solutions to play around such small disruptions
