I like dark elves with 4 blitzers, one runner to do pickups and feed the blitzers TDs and a witch to surf the unwary or reckless.
I'll bet you can win with all of them, but suspect the dark elves might have slightly better durability in the blackbox bashfest.

depending on the first 3 games i think. if the woddies don't get crushed then they are winner, if you loose a dancer or the treeman, then they will suffer till the end of the challenge.

As for Elfs. Woodies was always best and they still are.

DEs used to be pretty bad ass too but I think they been hit the hardest of the elfs by that cpomb thingy.

It depends of environment.

Black Box is full of Claw so I think it makes AV7 better:)

So I think in more "normal environment" my ranking would be:
WE
DE
HE
PE

But in BB maybe PE can reach the second place, but I think DE are still ahead despite AV closer to 8 so I think in BB it would be
WE
DE
PE
HE

But you said you prefer PE, so if you are better with them it can change the result:) Maybe PE first?:)

Well coached woodies should be doing the best. HE/DE is pretty even but I gonna go with HE here, DE next and Pro Elves performing worst (they have a couple of strong plays once they get some skills but they also always have some weaknesses. The better stats of the other teams give them more potential and the way Pro starts out ain't helping either).

In the box pro elves will come out on top imo as they are the most tv efficient elf team. That's not to say they are the best though, all the elf teams are equally good.

Are they tho? they lose one stat point in armor respectivly movement in exchange for 10 TV.

The other players aren't really more cost efficient either. The positionals become quite powerfull but aren't different in that respect from other elf teams. The only advantage is that they can and have to start with more positionals earlier. But by the time they are powerfull the others would already have caught up...

Av7 isnt a big deal for elves really, especially in a division full of CPOMB, you get more skills for your buck in black box with pro elves than you do the others.

I'm guessing woodies will come out with the best record. Offensively, they're pretty unstoppable. Defensively, they play a good SB game (which is deadly against about 2/3 of Box teams below 1400 TV). Their JMen are fairly useable, which will factor in to any decision (PE are the only one with a dropoff in JMen though). I think the team speed and insta-blodging wardancers will put them over the top.

PE would be my second guess, but I think you'll take too much damage, and play too many games with undeveloped catchers, to top the woodies.

Garion its true there is a lot of Cpomb in the box but do you know what there is even more of? Pomb! and in the vast majority of cases you will face pomb and thats where that extra armour can really come in handy. and 10k for loosine either a point in armour or movent does not sound that attractive.

Dark Elves start getting more competitive after abovt 120-130 tv and IMO are the only one that can realistically hope to get to 200tv and stay there.

Wood Elves are best at low tv bvt stay competitive throvghovt.

Pro and High have a sweet spot of 130-180 tv and are qvite vvlnerable above and below that.

So, basically I yov can get the tv management right it will depend on which teams gets the best skill rolls :P

Well its interesting but not particularly scientific :-)

Having played some good elven coaches over the years (yourself included as my second most played opponant on here with 40 games) its noticable that different coaches have different strategies and these are probably based around the racial preferences and team development strategies they have developed.

PeteW, yourself, Purplegoo, KFoged, Nicodemus1 and Cribbleobblepie are just some of the different coaches and not one has been the same approach. They all manage to beat me regularly...some more so than others :-)

The variables are

TV level of games played. Different races do better at different levels.

Skill selection. One coach goes for Block first anotehr goes for Dodge...fair enough. Butw hat if one race rolls MBlow or Guard earlier than another. These skills add to a teams win record critically.

Coach Experience. The assumption is you have a lot of experienece with each race athat makes things comparable

Attitude. Ultra-aggressive, cautious or some where inbetween. Coaches tend to have a style and that tends to influence all their racial styles. Some races can afford to be ultra aggressive others cant.

Luck. If one team has a poor start e.g. 4 casulties in first game all perms on positionals and the other team has 4 casualties but all BH's then that has an almost logerithmic effect on the relative development of the two teams

At the lower TV levels you won't get much claw so that gives and edge to the AV8 races. In my opinion this is outweighed however by the complete awesomeness of wardancers. All other things being equal I would say the race order of preference is:

WE
DE
HE
PE

However there are many variables which could easily distort the outcome, particularly over a small sample size. Your preference and experience for pro elves will probably see them do better than they would for most other coaches so I expect you to get them into the top two!

Personally, I very much enjoy playing Pro Elves. It is the team with the skills you wouldn't pick, but are so handy when you have them from the start. NoS + Catch remains to be a ridiculous skill set!

I'm going to day it depends on how you manage TV. Min-Maxed Pro Elves can be very successful in the Box. Not so much at higher TV. Wood Elves and Dark Elves are close enough imho that it will come down to luck (draw luck, game luck and team development luck).

The best Elf, in my opinion, is a dead Elf. Besides Azure, you had to make a new Box DE team because I retired the last one you had. :-D
