I thought I would write a little post about joining up with leagues. I had previously joined two leagues and I'm just starting on a third. (OBBA, STARWARS, LOTR)
Joining these groups has been the single most significant thing that I have done in the Fumbbl universe and I think that a lot of players who are finding that [R] just isn’t as much fun as it should be would benefit from joining up with a league or two.
In ranked the only measure of success is your TR and CR (of course the odd big tourney) but generally speaking this breeds the environment of self preservation and “cherry picking” that we have all become accustomed too as all players aim to have the highest CR possible or the best TR team ever made.
In leagues no one can ever accuse you of being a cherry picker as you obviously play everyone, generally there are always a good balance of teams.
This makes league games more fun and with the addition of fluff there are more obvious bragging opportunities and teams with decorated bios always look nice and add to the community as a whole.
I think a huge key factor for me was that more than ever before I felt part of a community and I enjoy the banter, match reporting and generally the attitude of the players I come into contact with.
Yes I still do get frustrated and yes I still mourn the loss of key players but as the league’s I play in are persistent there is always an opportunity to recover and re-build.
Give ranked a miss if you are feeling aggrieved by it and either start or join a league.
