A Coaches Journy Pt II
This article was written for Bunnypuncher's Blog, the oringinal Fumbbl Blog that created a controversy. It was submitted in March 2005, during a more simple time in Fumbbl. Angie was a mere coach here, EMU was the most prolific stable in Fumbbl and not all coaches tried to be wuhan/deathgerbil clones. Many my have not read it or are new, but it was when Christer and his 'mods' did not wear thin on me and the site was a more fun place to play.

Editor's Note to Christer's Language police** I prescreened the article for bad words this time :)

A Coaches Journey Part II

Recently, I have sold most of my blood bowl miniatures to a few coaches through Fumbbl. I no longer play table top blood bowl and I wanted to find my mini’s a good home (and make some spare cash). As I was sorting through my old blood bowl items, I came across my old teams, leagues notes and a few of my buddy’s old teams. I recalled the memories and good times of playing blood bowl with my friends. The fun of drinking Corona and tequila and playing blood bowl (and wondering next day what the hell was I doing looking at my team rosters). The fun of having over a group of friends to play blood bowl, watch NFL and drink beer. The fun of watching my bud roll five 1’s in a row for his sweltering heat rolls during a game, having my star mummy turned into a toad, or everyone cheering as a dirty player laid to rest an important player. I was saddened that I could never experience these times again.

As life moves on, friends move away, get married and have children. I can no longer enjoy the experience of playing my favourite game in person. Not many 30 year olds start up blood bowl and there is no local game shop in the town I live in. None of my friends play blood bowl anymore. Neverwinter Nights, WoW and PS2 are the preferred games of their choice. However, I have remained a fan of the game through Christers’s sight here at Fumbbl.

I have met many new people and developed a few ‘friendships’ through Fumbbl. In two years, my love of the game has remained and possibly, even grown. My son now plays games with me. His words to describe ogres as the ‘big puncher guys’; his love of throwing goblins; and his ability to throw passes with mummy’s is enjoyed as blood bowl should be- A game to have fun with. I may never play a table top game, make it to a NAF tournament, spend another dime at a GW store or paint another mini again. That’s ok for me. But in the meantime, I will continue to play at Fumbbl, drink beer in front of my pc, talk trash, and hurl insults at Danes over mIRC.

Thanks to all that make Fumbbl a great online community and a great place to play the greatest game ever invented- Blood Bowl!
