The Karak Eight Freaks
home game against the Velvet Underworld in yesterdays opening XFL Underworld match was mired in controversy after it was announced that WAR (Wizard Assistant Referee) would be in operation to assist match officials.
The system itself allows for the Wizard assistant ref, through a crystal ball, to replay instances of the game and to assist the referee on the field in making correct calls.
As a result the game saw almost every foul punished with a red card with 5 Freaks players hauled off early and the Velveteers star fouler, Andy Warhol VI, sin binned after his very first stomp much to the anger of the watching crowd.
In the post match interview the Freaks manager, Bezer, was furious and called for WAR to be abandoned. "Why are we trying to stamp out what is a fundamental part of the game... the stamping part?"
His views have been echoed throughout the Blood Bowl community with many saying the system doesn't work and its initial purpose 'to stop end-game fouls' was just a pipe-dream of weakling Elves who should just learn to suck it up.
