Calling All Legends (Coaches)
So earlier this year i decided to improve on my overall game play. I generally play well though i tend to suffer from bouts of "zen noobism" as I've seen the term coined. To fix this i created the team Only Legends Where these guys only play Legendary coaches in ranked.
*****"Legend Coach" as defined by myself is a coach who plays well and has earned high standing on the site by playing well and not clawpomb/minmax. While i know far more excellent coaches that are good without intensly high CR(which i know means little mostly) those with 170+CR are overall Excellent coaches regardless with a few exceptions. (They also have or have had the label Legend on their name in their home page)*****
Up until today i was only able to get in a good near tie(loss) with coach happygrue and since then i had rarely seen any "Legend" coaches in that TV range (which is understandable as most higher level coaches stick to certain teams that accumulate alot of tv and don't really start new ones so often) and the few i did see were either idle or didn't wanna play me... /tear
But thanks to forcing Chainsaw's pro elves into a match we got our second game and... our first win! I love it when pro elves cant roll higher than a 1 on virtually ALL GFIs. but thats not the point of this blog. The point is to tell all you persons out there that if you see me online and in IRC... and you happen to be "Legendary" or held that title for a good amount of time in the past; then please offer me a game!

The "Legend" ranking and the actual moniker that few coaches have earned is few and far between. I would attribute it more to a number of games played and at a fairly high or otherwise remarkable level. Some might label Paul Hicks as a legend... and if he came back to play, I might not disagree.

i have 1 small gripe with this blog. please don't base a coaches skill on cr , there are some truly wonderful coaches with low cr too. some cool coaches just use bad teams but play with high skill levels other coaches just use good teams and pick for cr.
but in general I like your blog and the purpose of it. its cool u want to improve your own skills. I would suggest not using a chaos team though as they are too limited to learn from. better teams imo would be humans, darkies cd's or even undead. skilful players with these teams are creative and use wisdom to see out a game. rats and woodies are strong but rely heavily on stealing ball. where as darkies don't quite have the speed to be lazy.
loose the chaos and go for a race u can learn from. and good luck in your quest

You can't suffer from Zen Noobism unless you are on the receiving end. It pretty much just means you're a poor coach with amazing dice. No thinking involved, just click and great success. I would hardly call that suffering. :)

Legend just means they are an okay coach that only plays top tier races. Anyone that plays a lot of Ogres, gobos and flings and nothing else stands almost no chance of becoming a legend not that they care about such things.

lawl, anyone who actually has played against me knows that i dont base crap all on CR. i mean, mine is low and i play fine against all sorts. playing chaos is a choice becuase i am NOT going clawpomb. that makes playing these guys all the more fun. ill mention that some of my most played teams are underworld, flings, lizards and pact. thoase are all in the box and i never focus on any one team. Chaos just gives me good all around skill sets with mutations and S access.
it also gives me practice against top tier teams!

I feel the same with CR, plenty of coaches at star and super star who I know are extremely skilled, so it really isn't that meaningful (Seems box makes a lot of legends too somehow?), but there needs to be some cut off/rule for the team. Only playing "legends" in CR terms in one of them.
