I play [L]eague only.
But then, I don't need to play four games a day every day. ;)

I like beating coaches who are obviously better than me so they feel intense shame about their inadequacies in coaching, if only for a fleeting moment.

I like to play whilst drinking a nice bottle of chianti with Chesney Hawkes playing in the background followed by the Grange Hill soundtrack. It keeps me motivated.

Well I don't think I'd like to play you as person. Looking at your teams, I really wouldn't want to play any of them either.
So I guess if anybody else feels the same as me, you'll spend a lot of time looking at the finder.

Eusebio, there's a close enough facsimile of that, facilitated by Koadah. There are some other rule changes that are minor but might be fun.

Tournament blood bowl is the best, top coaches, great teams, meaningful games, always going all out for the result.
I consider normal R games as tournament preparation so I give higher priority to team survival and development than getting the result. Box is different, I dont have high expectations for building optimal teams (except certain races), so I play for the result. The Box metagroups (ARR and HLP) give extra incentive for that. Also, Box is great practice for tournaments because you cant dodge anyone.

Naked... but I have a shirt ready so I can put it on and then take it off and wave it round like a helicopter if I wanna get rowdy.

\o/ Actually played a [R]anked game today. Though it was vs a [L]eague opponent so didn't need the gamefinder. ;)
@cdassak: Box may also be terrible tournament preparation as you can forget how to play vs elves. ;)

I agree with harvestmouse. With that in mind, stop offering my ~1730TV Amazons a match against your +2000TV Dwarves.

About 75% of my games are league. Which is great until I realize Brasky plays in my leagues too. Though there he just keeps bending us over with his flings. Whiskey League GO!

Ok, how to be unpopular, let's see...
Well, both divisions Ranked and Box are in a horrible state. I think thats true and obvious.
As tourney and L are the only places left that are healthy. League is great as it isnt plagued by exploits and egomaniacs while it still has the competitive aspects.
But as soon as you want to play more than one game per day - league wont help you any.
I guess 1-3 matches is reasonable for a lot of coaches and not all too "anonymous".
You need B and R to get into the tourneys. So where does that leave us/ fumbbl at on a larger scale...
"...there any way we can advertise and get some more people in on this great game?"
Posts like this for sure arent any advertise for fumbbl. Pardon, but i dont think you're interested in the site but solely in getting more games for you.
Wouldnt you have realized that obvious fact at one point otherwise?

+ and of course scheduling doesnt work for a lot of people as already mentioned by the OP.
So, L, on a community large scale, just isnt the answer to the problem, unfortunately.
I guess coaches have fought tenaciously to solve the problems and wrecked their nerves in the fruitless process, so have given up.
So, conclusion: community driven approaches will only face the symptoms (may only balance things a bit at times) not the cause. Which is sad as this is a community driven site.
The only way to solve the problems is to bypass all that, get to the cause straight away, change the site policy on those topics for good.
Obviously honorable coaches who have been contributing here for many years have already tried that tenaciously without any result but to wreck their nerves in the process.
Result: Flatline. Regression and well meant comments and attitudes that ignore the sad facts and keep us going as good as possible (and im not blaming those guys, certainly not, far from it. You gotta keep going somehow).

I would not say that R & B are in a "terrible state". They just don't work for what some people want to do.
Box works fine at least on Euro time zones for young teams & CPOMBers.
Ranked? Well I would be picky too. If you are not picky you may as well play Box.
The new Cyanide game will be out soon. I think that it would be good to get some of the [L]eague upgrades deployed by then.
But really, if BB2 does not have a big impact on numbers (as BB1 did) then there is probably not much need to change.
BB1 is pretty horrible in a lot of ways but if I was on an American timezone I might well choose it over the Box. If only because it used to be easier to get a game during those times.
It could be that the [L]eague upgrades have a bigger impact on R & B than BB2. Open leagues are not ideal but with a few more people playing it shouldn't be difficult to get two games a day. A new Open league format could be a big boost.
For me the rigid separation of the divisions is bit of a problem. You need more teams spread over more divisions to increase you chances of getting a game.
In the 'good old days' not only were there more coaches but there was no R/B split. You could also transfer your R teams to L.
Box and Ranked would be more attractive to me if I had somewhere to take my teams after they passed 32 games. As it stands, I rarely play Official tournaments so R & B feel like bit of a dead end.
But as I said. Roll out the League changes and see what BB2 does. It is probably not worth changing R & B until we've seen how we stand then.

+1 @koadah
I play a few games a week only. And only league.
It's a great way to practice patience, plus you get rid of the multi-game frustration-playing.
After a couple of years you will have a decent team ;)
In Swedish League we have teams that are older than 10 years.

I'm having equal fun in Ranked and Box WHEN I play them because nowadays practically all I play is one League (HUBBA) game every 10 days or so.
But when I play Ranked I try not to pick too heavy (usually involving a combination of coach skill/team matchup/coach "reputation") and in Box I haven't had ugly encounters yet.
Posted by PaddyMick on 2015-02-25 12:45:49
I play mostly ranked because I have no problems getting a balanced game quickly with a wide variety of races against nice coaches. I also like major tournaments, they are something to work towards.

I prefer the box... no temptation to refuse a game for an enemy that I don't like
I think that two simple rules could make the box better
1. Cannot fire a not permanently injuried player
2. If you have journieman, you cannot have more treasure than three or four times the cost of a line
