The pleasure of the kill...
I play Wood Elves in Blackbox, and I love it.
Because they play ball well, they're never out of the game and watching risky plays come off without a hitch is a beautiful thing. But when you're a Woodie in the box, there's something even more satisfying than scoring TDs.

Because when it comes down to it, the most satisfying thing is when you get to see that you've KILLED something.

Ah, the feeling of pure glee as you permanently erase the dreams of some other coach's upcoming star... dashing all the hopes and dreams that THIS +2 MA Vampire would go on to have a brilliant career or that THIS ST4, AG4 Orc Blitzer would become unstoppable with just a few more skills.

Sure, it's even more satisfying if your opponenet gets angry, starts crying or begins sending you hate-mail, but that's an added bonus that you just can't count on.

But simply enjoying the satisfaction of the kill.
THAT is what makes it bearable to bring your fragile Elves to the Box time and time again... because even while they get smashed into the pitch every game, sometimes they get to kill something.

And that's what really makes your day.

Schadenfreude

The sad thing is that there are so many geeks actually thinking in that way that I can't make out if you are serious or ironic.

Anyone who get enjoyment out of the misery of others is a pathetic loser.

I hate despise and loathe you with a passion! How dare you kill my vampire?! You n00b!

Is that hateful enough to make your day? ;)
I want everyone to know that this is the sort of thing that drives me to play my dwarves!

Not generally a fan of that style.

After winning, my opponent's enjoyment of the game is my second priority.

I prefer BH to any other injury, since it's very unlikely to get apothed, and thus helps me win. A 4/0/0 game is easier to win than a 3/0/1 game because it's likely that they apo'ed the RIP and have one extra guy out there.

I don't gloat over my opponent's failures or injuries. I'll sympathize (but not apologize) if I break a nice toy. I'll comment (i.e. whine) about luck, but I try to be evenhanded about it and not take credit for lucky plays happening to work. Maybe it's because I play Ranked too, but I don't taunt my Box opponents despite the fact they can't blacklist me.

I used to feel bad about damaging other teams. Getting over the loss of my own pixels was pretty easy but if I can't enjoy the death of my opponent's pixels then why play a game where they can die?

So yeah I'll rejoice in the occasional death/SI especially if I feel like the underdog (not so much when I'm already 3-0 up outnumbering my opponent and I RIP-no Regen one of their best players mind :P; but I do think you should be able to take pleasure in the damage you deal without feeling guilty about it). The sad thing is that when Raaste'd elves mangle my dwarves the ignorant spectators will be cheeering his vicious abominations (they don't even foul much!! -though that vamp kill was a foul).

Maybe you have to be more careful of people's precious sensibilities in Ranked but Box coaches are made of sterner stuff!

Now what does annoy me is people with slow Java...

I apologize for the slow Java, Timlagor. Will see if I can get it fixed for next time... and the score was 3-1, not 3-0...*grin*

But I'm looking forward for that Dwarf match. ;)

The score was even 4-1.... noobs.

But only 3-1 at the time of the incident... ;)

The worst is when when that awesome AG5 wardancer survives 7 games in the box, gets a kill and then AGES on his 3rd skill....aging always sucks but it sucks doubly hard when it happens to fragile elves that somehow survive in Blackbox
