I completely agree with you that both coaches should enjoy the match. I much prefer playing against an opponent who is having fun too. The more, the better.
I just think that those who hate fouling simply miss an important point:
Bloodbowl is a fantasy football game, specifically designed to be bloody and chaotic mayhem. Killing (and having players killed) is supposed to be PART OF THE FUN! (please notice the word "fun" here, instead of the often used "game". Sadly only the latter is obvious to anyone) You should seriously reconsider your approach to this game. Your teams are not supposed to only get better and better, like a character in an RPG. To be honest, when I joined fumbbl I was exactly like you. I hated losing players so logically I hated fouling as well. Then something happened. I think it may have to do with me playing a lot of stunty for some time (where you learn not to cling to the little ones), but I suddenly realised what should´ve been obvious to me and anyone playing this wonderful game long ago: Injured and killed players on either side are *always* great fun! (as long as your opponent is nice) It is a hilarious event, even more so if it is caused by a foul, crowdpush or otherwise "special" action (a stunty killing a regular or big guy comes to mind, for example).
Stop ruining the game for yourself and learn to enjoy anything that happens on the pitch. Cheer for your starblitzer getting killed, and I´ll guarantee you that you won´t hear nearly as much bitching and whining from your opponents when something unlucky happens to them three turns later. Most importantly, the game will be so much more enjoyable for _you_, which in turn will likely make the game more enjoyable for your opponent. So, somewhat paradoxical, while I think your point was not a bad one to start with, it´s actually you who make the game less enjoyable for your fouling opponent and not vice versa, as I´m sure he´d much prefer you typing "\o/" or whatever when he rip-fouls your best player.
In essence, it´s not the foulers who make the game less enjoyable for you, it´s you yourself. It´s your choice alone to laugh or to be angry when something happens to your players.
ADD: The coach who probably understood all of this best is PaulHicks. He is by far the best coach on fumbbl not for his impressive winning record, but because I think noone enjoys the game more than him. He has mastered the art of playing a good, bloody game and is therefore the wisest coach of us all.
ANOTHER ADD: That doesn´t mean I don´t care about winning. In fact, I care about it a lot and I´ll try anything to win every game. But I´m not unhappy if I lose, all I can do is give it my best shot. It also doesn´t mean I don´t grieve for a player anymore. I have a 7 4 5 8 Block, Leap, Frenzy High Elf Blitzer who is one of the most evil active crowdsurfers. I love this guy, there is no other player I´m having so much fun with. Seeing him die will make me sad for sure. But just as surely, I will not get mad at the coach who finally manages to rip-foul him (and believe me, he gets fouled every damn game - and rightfully so), because that´s exactly how such a player should die (dying on a failed leap being a close second). But you know what _will_ get me mad? Seeing such a player age. It´s all I´m asking for that he dies on the pitch.
