Aging
I was thinking about the aging rolls and how much it sucks if you lose a great player due to a failed aging roll. Now I don´t want to whine about it as I understand it´s a necessary game mechanic to avoid having too many freak players. But still I´d much rather lose a player on the pitch. That´s where a player should get an niggle or stat decrease or gloriously die.

So here is my proposal for a rule that would allow aged and otherwise crippled players one last glorious match: A player with a niggling injury or a stat decrease may decide to play a last match in which he will boost himself with illegal drugs. The player is losing all his permanent injuries for the next game. In addition, roll a D6 to determine the effects of the drug:

1 - The player has severely overdosed and dies immediately.
2 - The drugs have no further effect
3 - The player gains +AV
4 - The player gains +MA
5 - The player gains +AG
6 - The player gains +ST

The player will automatically receive the MVP award. After the game, roll another D6. On a roll of 1 to 5, the player, already weakened by former injuries, dies. On a roll of 6 the player survives but has to roll as if he has failed an aging roll.

I don´t know about you, but for me it would be much easier to let go of a once beloved player if I could play him to his fullest one last time.

EDIT: Of course I don´t mean this rule should be used on fumbbl, but it could make for a nice house rule.

I'd love this houserule instead of no ageing at all...

Funny idea. But as soon as the LRB5 client is ready, theres no need for it. Ageing is gone and also the new niggling rules are way cooler. Can't wait for the new client, and will probably play a bit of Cyanides game until then.
