on the Luck meter
where the Luck meter is "broken":

- if the opponent does not fail its armor roll, the luck does not go down. (It does go up on breaking armor, so more blocks = more armor rolls = more "luck" on the luck meter)
- Rerolls on blocks ignore the first roll. So rolling triple skulls then skull-skull-pow will appear as "success" (which it is, just enough "luck" to be successful there!).

- Rerolls on "single roll actions"(catch, dodge, pick up etc) work properly with the Luck meter.

The solution of course, is to not worry about the luck meter and focus on things that you can improve, like skill... ;)

luck meter is rubbish ignore. Luck can not be measured as only relevant to a variable set of circs.
i.e. - I may like to get two push results on a block to push someone into a position where i can surf them. I get double pows and knock over the player who stands up next turn.
Seen as lucky that I got the pows but I wanted the push to get him off the field.

I am not a fan of the luck meter (except when it proves my point), but I did want to mention something out about armor rolls. If I read the LRB 4 rules correctly, the blocking coach is the one rolling the armor check, not the coach of the fallen player. So you may not be looking at the right coach's luck on armor rolls that did not break.

There is some information on what it does and does not measure in the Help section. According to it, it does measure armor rolls both success and failure to break.

Hi Flashback,
thanks for your constructive feedback!
I know of the help page (http://fumbbl.com/help:Luck) and if you read there, you will see that a broken armor increases your luck, whereas an (opponent's) unbroken armor should decrease your luck. It doesn't do the second, but it does on the first.

Here's something to consider: In order to break armor, your opponent has to have a player fall down. That's usually from a successful block that you make. Then, after the armor roll, there is an injury roll. Because of the speed at which the dice roll, you simply are not going to see the luck meter adjust for all 3 of these rolls (block, broken armor, injury). You are only going to see the final result after everything has been determined. That could be why it appears your luck doesn't go down if you fail to break armor. Because it went up for the successful block then back down for the unbroken armor.

Hi Flashback,
you can calculate the odds upfront and then check with the outcome....
have a look here

This blog is also some kind of reminder to myself, as in the forum the RNG/Luck discussions reappear every so often.

If you have a test run and know of unknown flaws I'd love to hear of them!

meh, my 5 cent.
i was told, that stuns decrease your luck while casualties increase it. (all luck is % on luck-o-meter)
foul more!

Another thing to remember about the luck meter, f_alk, is that even if it worked "as intended" in all situations, the "expected luck score" for a game (to the extent that this even makes sense, i.e. not particularly) is rarely going to be 50%.
