Host: Spectators were shocked today when the Sacred Lentil Shamblers suffered a record 6 red flags against them for fouling. There has been a general call for an investigation into the business dealings of coach Oryx Wild and his contact on the university board. Although he was all bluster and aggression on the pitch, Coach Oryx argued the ref down three calls in a row, demanding that his players be given another chance. Many questioned how the head ref Antonio De la Riviera, notoriously stubborn and prideful, could have been convinced that his call was wrong on three separate, fairly blatant (according to many) fouls. Here we have a slow mo replay of all three, and yeah I can definitely see the zombies putting the boot in. They look enraged or maybe grief stricken... Are those tears?
[A clip of an on-pitch interview with Coach Oryx plays]
"Did you see what these leafing savages did to the wolves? You can't blame the lads for lashing out. They're good boys, and they're not ready to see their star wolves fall apart like that. Their unlives are flashing before their eyes! Morale is falling apart, so are all the zombies. I can't keep any control of them, the ghouls are skulking, the flesh golems are scared of everything and the zombies are literally in pieces. The banshees can't carry the ball, and my new "star player" is warming the leafing bench for 3 nuffleborne drives! What do you want from me? Leafing corruption my butt. I come from the big leagues. We put the leafing boot in up there! We---"
Well that's quite enough from coach Oryx, who is still steamed up after the match.
guest: You say steamed, I say cooked. I've just received word from our sources that mere hours ago auditors for the Sacred Lentil endowment opened an investigation into allegegations of bribery and corruption. Coach Oryx denies all wrongdoing, and some have called for him to step down as head coach but no official university stance has been declared yet. The yearly board meeting is scheduled in a few weeks, perhaps they're waiting to see what the investigation turns up before deciding. I smell a rat here...
host: Those sound like some serious allegations there!
guest: yup! Lesse... (checks phone-watch) Sounds like a fine of up to $150,000 per commissioner decision, and the crown could hand down a penalty of up to 10 years in the pen, if he's convicted.
host: *whistles* In other news, Sacred Lentil University is looking for a new head coach! Apply on the website!
I kid, but who knows. Maybe this is the end of the program? This bowl game was their big chance to make a splash on the scene, and while they certainly did, I'm not sure this is exactly what anyone expected. They say no publicity is bad publicity, but I'm inclined to disagree on this one. The commissioner's office has declined to comment on this story. A spokesman for Coach Oryx replied provided the following statement:
"The coach and players of the Sacred Lentil State Shamblers got caught up in the moment and took a hard hit to their shriveled, fearful hearts. All fouls were meant in the a brotherly spirit of a hard won victory, and it was a damn good game. No one was really all that hurt in the end, so please don't make a big deal out of it, and congrats to Mrt1212 on his EXTREMELY hard won victory."
