He was raised by poor peasants in an obscure town along the World's
Edge Mountains. His parrents couldn't afford to get him educated and he
spent long hours working in the field with his father from an early age.
As he grew his natural strength became more apparent - honed by all the
years working with heavy tools - and when his father died of an illness
only 2 weeks after Banks' 14 year old birthday he had to manage most of
the outdoors work himself.
One day a talent scout was roaming the area and was looking for young
athletes to join the newly found Wolverines. He quickly realized that the
young man's strength would be an asset to the team and tried to
convince Banks to sign the contract with promises of fame and glory.
Banks agreed - but not before he had been assured that his ol' mother
would be taken good care of.
Banks sends most of his earnings back home to his mother, who is now
living a quite comfortable life, while Irwin himself is reknowned for his
almost spartan way of living.
