The head coach, John Toshack, was a harried man, pressured by the public and the club owners to whip the team into shape. After 4 years of failure, he was looking at the strong possibility of a pink slip, when he came to a brilliant realization. On the eve of the fiftieth anniversary of the last Welsh qualifying victory, he poisoned the entire team during a raucous night of partying. He brought in a tachli team (ancient sport native to South America) and began fielding the lizards in the players uniforms. Since Wales has no fans, and anyone watching their game inevitably is a fan of the opposing team, no one *actually knows* what the Wales players look like, and in the preseason training no one has noticed the difference yet. As to the rest of the season, even a goblin is better than a Welshman with a football, and Toshack is hedging his bets that the team will be a greater success than ever.</div></td></tr></table> <divalign='center'>After the preseason, it appears that coach Toshack was wrong - the skinks can't dodge, the saurii can't hurt anyone, and these lizards are every bit as bad as the Welsh team before them. I'll drink to that! Hurrah!</div>
