Madness? THIS.. IS.. FUUUUUUMBBBBLLLL!
So.. everyones whining and complaining about the new RNG, hell even Mezir felt inclined as to type up a blog about the constant abuse it's been getting. So you know it's bad. Or is it?
Personally I've always felt that the previous RNG just wasn't that random. Or was designed in a fashion that favored lower dice rolls on average(like 1-4). Somehow. I don't claim to understand how it works exactly or why there is such a difference now compared to back then. But I have noticed a high increase in injuries since the new RNG addition. Very high in fact, the difference is staggering.
But I feel it's actually more realistic. When I play table-top I always rolled more injuries then I did in Javabowl. That's not to say it made the previous RNG in accurate, just that I always felt it was lacking that oomph I always had in table-top from higher rolls (based on countless different dice I've used over the years).
Well that and I've always felt this community is a little too soft and the change is very nice. This is a game that has a rich history of dirty deeds, violence and underhanded tactics written within the rule books that everyone seems to forget exist. How many of you actually own the game and have read those interesting little tidbits?
You can argue all day about sportsmanship. People play the game for different reasons and now that the new RNG is a little more accurate.. I think many people are unable to deal with the high number of casaulties and immediately cry that it's all the RNG's fault. It's not dammit, things are just now the way they always should have been.
So what exactly am I saying?
Quit whining about the RNG. It's pointless. Go out and buy a teddy bear. When something bad happens in your next game and you feel an urge to type up something nasty in your blog about the hideously unfair and non random RNG, grab that stuffed bear and punch it in the face! Maybe gnaw off an ear, then toss it across the room. Breathe. Count to ten. There, everything is okay now and you're good to go.
Works for me. Well it used to, prior to me moving out with my girlfriend I used to have a little stuffed rhinoceros toy that I'd throw at my cat.
