Once upon a time, Andy signed up for broadband with Wanadoo, and all was good. After a while, Orange bought Wanadoo, but things carried on okay. Then, one day (17th December) Andy's broadband died...
3 months later, after literally hours on the technical support line (in India, naturally), after talking to every department in Orange (some of which were quite surprised to be talking to him), Orange were kind enough to arbitrarily close my account. Oh, but without freeing the line.
It wasn't until about 2 weeks ago that I actually found out that Orange were incapable of even running the most basic diagnostics on my line - but of course, they'd not told me that. Apparently I 'wasn't on the diagnostics system', by which I think they mean that I was attached to old Wanadoo kit and they couldn't be f%^ked to fix that.
So, my firm advice - never, ever use Orange broadband. Ever.
