New Tournament Season Update As we prepare to kick off a new Major season I want to give everyone an update on where things stand when it comes to tournament changes for the coming year. As always things will continue to be evaluated as we go. Majors Only current change planned is to move the Grotty Little Tournament back to its traditional May slot. This would move the Crown of Sand to July. The reason behind this is the GLT has the most complicated qualifier setup and having it at a time that traditionally gets the least applicants leads to issues with getting all the qualifiers filled. Besides this prizes will continue to be evaluated. XFL A few changes to the XFLs. As they have already started for this season some of these are already known but will be mentioned again. First of all welcome Cloggy back as an XFL admin. He will help Cyrus-Havoc once again. You may have noticed that we are trying out a set schedule for XFLs this year. This means that we already know when each race is scheduled to have their tournament. The Schedule is as follows. Round One 20th November 2019 Chaos Dwarf - Finished - Winner - PurpleChest Necromantic - Finished - Winner - Jokaero Ogre - Finished - Winner - Pirigin Round Two 1st January 2020 Chaos Renegades - Playing - Winner - It could be you! Dark Elf - Playing - Winner - It could be you! Undead - Playing - Winner - It could be you! Round Three 29th January Dwarf - Pending - Winner - It could be you! Norse - Pending - Winner - It could be you! Skaven - Pending - Winner - It could be you! After this will be XFL Masters which will be going through some changes itself. The prize will be changed. Instead of being able to add 1 of any positional from a team you beat in the tournament you will be able to add 1 of any lineman from a team you beat in the tournament. In addition it will lose its status as a major after this year and return to being its own thing. Reason for this is it just doesn't get the same fan fare as the traditional majors and it's qualifying system is so different. As qualifying has already started for this year it will remain a major for one more year. Bar Brawls No changes to Bar Brawls for the coming year RRR No structural changes but welcome Rawlf as the new RRR admin. Return of FUMBBL Minors Finally what I think is the most exciting news. One of the issues with this ruleset when it comes to majors is it allows such bloat of teams. I personally cannot complain as I have been at the forefront of this but I recognize that for coaches who are newer, or have less time to play, or simply are not interested in the very high TV game this leaves them with a more difficult path to tournament glory. Because of this I would like to bring back FUMBBL Minors. FUMBBL Minors will be set in the month between when majors kick off. First one will be in mid February. These will be 32 team tournaments set at either 1900, 1600, or 1300 TV + or - 30 in each case to prevent people from being able to just set their team at the highest TV way in advance. If we have enough applicants there will be multiple 32 team tournaments drawn. Which TV it will be will be decided by dice roll when the tournament is announced. In addition these will use the new double elimination option for tournaments which should lead to a unique experience. Unlike majors we will attempt to minimize byes here (as they do weird things to double elimination). Teams will be accepted starting from the TV limit and working down. Good luck everyone in the coming year. |
