Plasmoid hate
I don't know Plasmoid, but he seems to get quite a lot of stick on here. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a historical slight against BB or FUMBBL that I should be aware of?

Personally although I don't like every rule in his Plasmoids CRP+ rulebook ( I don't like the concession cash rule), I do like most of them. I should point out that I do like the rule r.e. claw and PO. The issue of clawPOMB isn't going away no matter how laughable I think it is that a number of coaches here cry about the Blood in Blood bowl.

I see a not of negativity to Plasmoid's effort, and would like to know if there's an alternative CRP+ ruleset that someone else has developed that I could compare and constrast to CRP/Plasmoids CRP+.

Oh yeah....unnerf DP 2016!

Maybe people jus wanna play CRP until they die.

You can consider that crying about blood if you like.
Posted by Silent_Hastati on 2015-10-06 00:04:49
A lot of people consider CRP/LRB6 to be the final version of bloodbowl that should never, ever be messed with, despite the fact that it was intended as anything but when it was created, and came out under some suspect circumstances (Such as Jervis executive vetoing in some pet rules of his agains the rest of the comittie) tbh.

Lol Koadah, you're hijacking my posts so much lately you need a balaclava and a few hostages....

The best bit is I'm actually saying change clawPOMB here (which you are a big advocate for) and you're STILL ragging me!

To answer your final question, Whatball is working on a new rule set, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are others too. For FUMBBL, it would probably be best if a committee, made up of coaches with experience from game design and FUMBBL, worked on an FRB (FUMBBL Rule Book). For this community, that's the thing that makes the most sense I think. We need a square peg for this square hole, not a different kind of circular.

Hmmmmmm it's complicated and there's a lot too it. I get on ok with Plasmoid, however I one of his biggest critics.

I find some of the abuse he takes, uncomfortable. However I think a lot of the negative critic is more than fair. I am frustrated with his stance and his reasoning.

That's been forever though and I know he isn't going to change. I appreciate the work and effort he's put into the hobby, it's a lot and the hobby is a better place for him.

I feel though that he doesn't always take negative feedback the correct way and he lacks understanding on some issues. As pointed out, his online footprint is large and most likely the reason why Cyanide sort out his work, rather than it's quality.

Saying that, there is a lot of good work. I just can never agree with him on some issues.

So bottom line. Hate for his work in a lot of cases is justified, however the person is a nice guy.

I should make the Jimmy Rules Pack. It would really be fantastic!

And it would be right :)

Personally, I think CRP+ sorry 'Plasmoid's' CRP+ is an improvement. Yet, I don't think any of the individual rules is the best answer to each problem (maybe 1 or 2) or that there was necessarily a problem.

I think NTBB is a cool idea, for a niche league. Definitely not as the main ruleset though, which wasn't really the plan anyway.

CRP+ isn't really a ruleset, just 10 changes to the rules. I think a lot of people have done their own rules/changes. A member here is in the midst of doing his own set, Mr J did, WD also. I have my own set too I guess, which I use for my personal league. I'm not really interested in publishing them though, as the grief far outweighs the pros. It's not like it's going to help me get into the pants of that girl at the bar in town.....so I can't really see the benefit of critical acclaim with a bunch of online geeks. The shit's just not worth it.

I think that blood bowl 2 should have come out with a completely new rule set. Give the people something new! Make the game more newb friendly, remove the turnover mechanic, make it so that when a player chooses mutation-he gets 2 random mutations (it's chaos!), give the haflings a chef positional with leader and stab, make vampires not suck, give longbeards a "trip on beard" nega-trait!

The game needs an update, I would like it if someone took it upon them to remake the game.

I often wonder if GW are going to either re-launch Blood bowl (can't see BB fitting into the 'Age Of Sigmar' world tho) or more likely licence it out to a company like Fantasy Flight...The only issue I see with that is FF have a great track record with their games play wise, but they do love their add-ons!

I agree though, a reset would be nice...everything needs a new coat of paint from time to time!

Pretty much exactly what Harvestmouse said. I massively appreciate the work he has put in, and the fact he is active and does engage with discussions.

His interpersonal skills are maybe not always his finest asset and while he engages verbally he is yet to play on FUMBBL that we know of. i do not agree with all of CRP+ but i do appreciate the work put in. I fundamentally disagree with NTBB, but that's a very polarising concept and ought to be more seperated from CRP+ in peoples minds.

As always with internets, people are not careful, tone is not appreciated, hard to pick up at all and usually interpreted negatively. Chats with plasmoid therefore often end up inflammatory. Enough in the past have gone 'gritty' that some instantly jump aggressively into any new plasmoid related thread and plasmoid is naturally often on his guard and maybe a touch prickly.

It's not us at our best, for sure. I'd love to have a long chat with him sometime, over a game of FUMBBL.

;-)

I think it comes down to the guy not having any experience. He should play a thousand games here before being "an idea man".
Posted by DustBunny on 2015-10-06 04:07:41
^^^
This means I can be an idea man!
\\o o// \o/ \o/ \o/

Prepare yourselves for the DustBunny ruleset.
Leaping gives you foul bonus.
Fouling with the ball gives you foul bonus.
DP gives +2
Ogres get un-nerfed

And then I'll just pinch the bits from CRP+ I like because all I really want is more fouling.

"I often wonder if GW are going to either re-launch Blood bowl"

No impossible, not without some sort of regulation of 3rd party figure manufacturers. GW wouldn`t touch the game with a barge pole unless this was reigned in or governed in some way so that they could make a profit.

Alert!!!!

JimmyFantastic and My self are going to put our minds together and make CRP+. The best part of this will be that neither of us have any "issues" dealing with others, we take criticism and self reflect, contemplate what the criticism is and then proceed to beat the criticizer to a bloody pulp.

So CRP + will be the best rule set ever!!!!!

What? I heard some guy on the back bench.

"What are you and JF going to change to make the game better?"

I have no freaking clue, just sit back, when it comes out you will contemplate and then understand its genius.

Trust me

I don't think anyone has a problem with plasmoid personally.

The issues I see are the way his rules were positioned which has confused many newer coaches in to thinking he was testing the next official rule set of the game. The other issue is his Bretonnnian roster is just a terrible representation of the race. Thats all really.

Look forward to seeing what jimmy and painstate come up with!

Ps I have my own rule set but I do not publish them anywhere because too many people started getting involved and it was messing it up.
Posted by Grod on 2015-10-06 11:24:51
Piling on: make it work same way but just on block actions not blitz.

Stunty: instead of adding 1 to unjury rolls of stunty players, rather, stunty players are so puny that 1 is subtracted from injury rolls of opponents as the result of a stunty block.

I tell you what if Painstate and I did make a ruleset we would for sure unnerf DP!

Posted by JimmyFantastic on 2015-10-06 12:06:52
BB2 has done both with the bribes and surfing stadiums :D
Posted by Garion on 2015-10-06 12:54:38
I love the stadium rules in theory, though I think their implementation has been poor a few tweaks here and there and they would be amazing. like there should be no auto wizard one, the bribe one I am not sure about yet. There should be a steel cage one which means lightning cant be used on it for example, and the stadiums would need to add to your tv really. maybe not a lot, but they should contribute.

Surfing I'd rather - straight injury roll, apos and regen don't work, then with the stadium upgrade you have a great weapon there. :)

That was a pretty sensible blog with a lot of sensible comments too.

Thats pretty irritating...
Posted by SpecialOne on 2015-10-06 19:31:44
oh well. I'm danish, just as Plasmoid. So ofcourse his ruleset is debated here. In fact a BloodBowl club Copenhagen BloodBowl Association (CBBA) has a league playing NTBB, mainly because they what to test Plasmoids ruleset, and they think it is a good thing. I'm a bit of a stiffneck on the matter, and would like no change to a game I think works just as it should. Getting the tiers closer doesn't do the trick for me.

I have heard in the danish BB community, that Plasmoid was in close contact with the rulescommity and didn't get all his changes in, but he tried back then (LRB6+CRP). And about the comment on him having no experience... He has. he has played all the early rulesets, and has lately picked up playing the game again.
@PurpleChest. As far as I know, he is going to Lucca in a month. Maybe you can catch him there for a "live" talk about the rules.

Pardon my spelling. ;)

Too bad plasmoid doesn't play on FUMBBL, where we could watch him in action.
Posted by Garion on 2015-10-07 08:55:53
Matt makes a fair point. It's one thing having lots of TT experience playing with a closed group of friends and pbem but it's quite another playing thousands of games on fumbbl.

Sure some tt only players are very good . But many more are very poor.

Hate is way too strong a word. Any sense of animus mainly comes from a few less-than-genteel posters imo.

He promoted the potential tack-on rules certain members of the BBRC seemed to be in favour of, but I don't believe the "CRP+" set were his creation (could be wrong). Generally his influence on LRB6/CRP appears to be exaggerated but I don't know that that's his fault (sometimes people mis-interpret). When he's been abrasive on forums I generally give him the benefit of the doubt due to second-language issues. His site has a great set of playbooks which I have read all of, and really should be the starting place for any new BB'er. (bbtactics to learn the rules, plasmoid to learn strategy, fumbbl for real-world experience.)

Personally I don't agree with the premise of NTBB, so I tend not to like his changes. Some of the NTBB changes have been so off-track vis-a-vis the fluff that they cast doubt on the rest of his decision-making. Where just pure CRP+ is concerned I like some of the rules and dislike others, but generally believe the game needs more than just tweaks in a next revision. So any approach that doesn't address root causes will not win my support.
