Update: The Elven Kingdoms league is recruiting!
Currently I am thinking about an 'all elven' league for a couple of reasons. Firstly I really enjoyed to additional depth a league can offer during my first sprint in the
145 Graduation League. Directly followed by my preference for a fast and mobile playstyle.
After reading about the
E.L.F metagroup I thought the absolute opposite may be fun as well: Different elven teams competing for the title of the Elven Kingdoms. While formats like the
X.F.L offer the race specific qualifiers for the official rosters I did not find a metagroup for all elven rosters including the available
Secret League 2020 Rosters.
So, the basic idea was set and I started to work on the ruleset for the league. It was quite clear to me that I wanted to stay as close to the current ruleset of the competitive division as possible, even if a spiked ball for elfs was appealing. ;-) To differentiate a bit and considering the wealth of the elven kingdoms a starting budget of 1250k and a higher re-draft cap of 1450k along with a reduced agent fee came into my mind. Since I did not expect too many participants and I liked the idea of the ‘sprint’ in the 145 leagues, I set the season length to 8 games only.
Some minor tweaks like the nomination of three players for the MVP and no treasury spending on inducements for the overdog and the ruleset was almost complete. Missing only the available rosters. Like stated before I wanted to combine the available official and SL2020 rosters for elves but even add a little spice to the league as well. So why not try to create a special roster for the league?
The idea for the ‘Elven Stars’ team is based on the background for the ‘Elven Union’: A team of professional blood bowl players trying to make their fortune without nobility influence or funding impacting the team. But I wanted to focus a bit more on the openness to all elven races of those teams and thus tried to create a roster which combines the stars of all four official elven teams: One Witch Elf and Runner from Naggaroth, a Wardancer and one light Catcher from Athel Loren, a Blitzer and a Thrower from Ulthuan as well as two Catchers from the Elven Union would act as the typical eight positionals all elven teams can work with. So, no backup thrower at high TV, only three catchers, but a lot of different skills to choose from. But no such benefit comes without a drawback. While the positionals form the core of the team, the linemen are even more distrusted ‘fillers’ than in other elven teams. Therefore all positionals have Animosity(Lineman) and all Lineman have Loner (2+).
So in total the league would allow 15 different rosters:
BB2020 Roster | SL2020 Roster | BB Championsleague Roster | Own Roster |
Dark Elf | Avelorn | Blood Elf | Elven Stars |
Elven Union | Black Ark | Grey Elf | |
High Elf | Half-Elf | | |
Wood Elf | Isha | | |
| Khainite Assassins | | |
| Kurous | | |
| Sea Elf | | |
| Witch Elf | | |
So what do you think about the leage, ruleset and the Elven Stars team? Happy to hear any remarks and ideas for improvement.
