More seriously, Merkel wants veto power of national budgets.
The united states of Europe..... 4th Reich anyone?
This is how the Greeks and Spanish see this move, at least...

very unappropriate, the 4th Reich joke
Posted by pythrr on 2012-10-18 21:19:55
It was not a joke.

And by that I mean - witness how the demands of the German chancellor are being received in the EU med countries. A German veto over national budgets (which is what has been demanded), is a clear violation of national sovereignty, and will bring back bad European memories in the minds (and public politics) of groups opposed to EU control and the current austerity measures.

Thank you dude, made me laugh real hard! :D

i am really not in the mood to discuss politics, sry. an i am pro EU so we would move in circles ;)
Its just that there are many people from GER and AUT here and we feel very sensitive about the topic, especially when its being played down...
Posted by johnalex on 2012-10-19 01:19:34
pythrr feeds on sensitivity... don't feed it!
Also, not worth getting sensitive over... I mean, take the United States for example, we got attacked for the first time since the civil war on 9/11 and we didn't get uptight ab... oh, wait, yes we did
Posted by pythrr on 2012-10-19 01:24:23
There are lots of people in ESP and GREECE that feel pretty sensitive about it too, hence the reference!

A subject being sensitive doesn't mean we can't discuss it, or bash it over the head. Bad ideas are bad and they should be pointed out. Sensitivity be damned.
Btw, good joke :D

Very true John Alex! Bar the part about not being attacked between the Civil War and 9/11. :-O
Posted by Eusebio on 2012-10-19 10:24:48
True... Genocide with >10 Mio. victims is like obliging a state to not spend more than they have...
Ever been to a concentration camp?
@johnalex
I know pythrrs posts and enjoy them usually ;)

"More seriously, Merkel wants veto power of national budgets."
Well just read in the News that Denmark is the only country out of all EU countries that live up to the standard and rules EU has set in order to be part of EU.
So if Merkel wants veto power over national budgets and even Germany cant live up to them, then maybe the only sensible thing would to give that VETO POWER to a country that can and does live up to those standards etc.
Bring back the Viking Era, DANISH POWER.
And if we just stop half way with making English more "Euro-English" and then it is easy to shift English into Danish and not German. On a note, the east coast of English is already using danish words, so why not!
And yes this is written in fully seriousness, all you Euro people will be much better of with ÅØÆ and Danish Rye Bread.

Bah, the EU's a bloody farce, us brits were ruddy daft ever getting involved...
Plus it takes all the fun out of going abroad now it's the fecking "Euro" everywhere :(
Posted by Mr_Foulscumm on 2012-10-19 14:02:09
How about no veto power and... you know... no EU at all.
