I have just had my first cleared pitch, against me that is. The Posse were feeling bullish and challenged Emphasy's
U n d e a d to
a scrap. After both teams had lined up the ref blown the whistle to start and no sooner had he done so the U n d e a d fans rushed up and garroted the poor fellow. What followed was a brutal disembowelment of the Posse culminating with a gratuitously cleared pitch (egged on by me, but don't tell my players!), and a TD, on the undead's 8th turn.
The second half saw a resemblance of order restored with a new ref appointed. With 10 players on the field and the memory of how quickly they were dispatch in the previous half the Posse went for a quick score. Thanks to Xanot and Narks ball play the score was evened on the second turn of the half. Now the goal was to stop the U n d e a d from scoring again at all costs.
Thanks in large part to my Rotters doing what they do best, i.e. being a standing road block, the undead's drive stalled. Hoping for fame, fortune and maybe some groupies Xanot blitzed the ball carrier and even managed to scoop up the ball after knocking him flat. The U n d e a d didn't become the team they are by taking this sort of thing lying down and they quickly dashed Xanots dream of groupies by knocking him out cold. After a bit of scrapping the undead regained control and surged down the field. However they had not reckoned on Pox, cometh the hour cometh the man and oh what a man Pox is. The only route to the ball carrier involved dodging into a tackle zone then dodging out and going for it. Gritting his teeth Pox ran, well lumbered, this obstacle course and made it through. As soon as he was in range he swung his ham fist so hard that he knocked the Ghoul out cold. To cap off this astonishing move he looked up in time to see the ball bouncing toward him and caught it first try. With his team mates rushing up to cover him he managed to keep hold of the ball and the match ended in a draw.

Now it could be argued that a game where your team starts with a tr/ts of 209/209 and ends with 169/161 is a bad one but I disagree. This was a really fun match to play and if I had the chance to play it or avoid it I would definitely play it again. If you avoid games like this or get upset while it is happening then I think you are missing out on something that is actually pretty damn funny. This also gives my team a nice extra bit of history that the standard win a little/loose a little games do not give. The Putrid Posse will come back stronger, fighting to their first goal of 100 games, huzzah!
