In the case of Frenzy is not a wasted dialogue.

In the case of Frenzy. When did the opponent have a choice in deciding to follow up?

My personal preference would be "fend always used, unless opponent has frenzy"

Is this a bad blog? He's got a point, hasn't he?
Posted by Ruiner on 2012-09-15 19:04:18
Nope, there's no point in this blog.

@Ruiner: If you have Fend and your opponent has Frenzy you can choose not to use Fend and he's forced to make another block which could be disadvantageous for him, for example a -2 dice block, or he could end in a position to be surfed.
So optional use of Fend is not silly as it may appear at first look.

@Ruiner: I agree that fend should be used after the opponent chooses to follow, but currently in crp you have to decide to use it before your opponent chooses whether to follow or not

MattDakka please read what I typed again. I'm not saying we should have auto fend.

"This player is very skilled at holding off would be attackers. Opposing players may not follow up blocks he made against this player even if the Fend player is knocked down. The opposing player may still move after blocking if he had declared a blitz."
Nothing in that description says the Fend player must decide to use fend before the opposing player chooses to follow-up.

How about looking at it like this: Right now no Follow Up popup is shown when a defender decides to use Fend - i.e. no wasted Follow Up dialogue.
Because the Fend popup comes first, the anticipated Yes settles the issue. No need for any Follow Up popup. If instead the Follow Up popup were to come first, the anticipated Yes would require a 2nd (Fend) popup.
Then again, there is something to say for having the active coach making any decisions if possible - that way the inactive coach can go on his toilet break without delaying the game.
Also I agree one should always use Fend unless Frenzy is involved, maybe the client could be made to enforce that? Unless you think your opponents are stupid enough to be tricked into following up when they really shouldn't.
/off to read insanely long forum thread

bannanaman, you'd be surprised at how little some players think. Rookie mistakes, whiskey, anything.
Alternatively, conflicting interests; supposing I want my opponent to follow up to drag him out of position, and he wants to follow up to PO my guy. We both want the follow up to happen, even though our wants *should* oppose each other. Therefore, auto fend not a good idea.
