Unreliable Coaches
I'm fairly new to running BB Leagues. My league the WIBBL is in its 2nd season. When I first joined FUMBBL I found it hard to join leagues and so when I created the WIBBL I told myself I would allow coaches new to FUMBBL to join. Unfortunately I have been let down by some coaches and not just new ones. In future I will be doing my homework on Coaches before allowing them to join the WIBBL and I implore other League Commisioners to do the same so that these unreliable coaches are punished for their lack of commitment and bad manners.
Dont get me wrong sometimes circumstances dictate that we have to cut down the amount of time we spend on fumbbl and that is fair enough. But it doesnt take much effort to let the league commisioner know that you are having difficulties. Those that do this should be thanked and respected. My venom if you like is aimed at those who show no regard for other coaches by just deciding not to bother playing their scheduled games.
If a coach can not commit to regular games they should stick to [R]anked.

Not every starting league can be picky with the coaches it admits pythrr.

It sucks for the other coaches in the league to have unreliable ones around. I´ve been waiting for I think 4 weeks to play in one league. My opponent is online very rarely. He doesn´t answer my pm. He is not in chat. And four other coaches are waiting for us to play.

i have to say it's not just coaches, but also league-organizers, though...
i've played in 4 leagues so far of which the largest one (dbl) is the only one surviving (with almost 30 seasons played)
the other leagues died either 'cause too many coaches dropped or there wasn't even a reason given and the organizer just let it die
either way, not nice at all :-(

As a league admin my guide is always what is best for the league over what is best for the individual coach. You won't please everyone all the time so don't even try but it's better to have quality over quantity.

I agree with what daniel stated. Also, you must enforce contingencies in order to get compliance (e.g., impose a deadline and then a penalty for missing it, then enforce the penalty). I had a hard time doing that for a while and luckily had some good coaches who rarely let the league down; unfortunately that is the exception rather than the rule).
