Throw in decay for the semi-zombies to make them less likely to be Über-monsters.
Great idea!

@BooAhl:- Maybe, although with the 50% chance of losing skills I thought the chance of ever getting that ultimate player would be quite slim, and the extra cost of the players around would balance it out.

this would be very cool
then you could go hunting - for example - Orc Bobs to make big clumsy zombies.... or hunting GRs for fast zombies, etc etc...
Posted by harvestmouse on 2011-09-06 11:01:18
I like the concept too. I think I'd simplify it a little. 0-16 zombies and raised players - 2 ma - 1 ag get to keeps the skills they have but with decay.

I also like the fact that you would activily seek out good teams, rather than avoiding them. You want want to play a claw pomb team. Even more you would what them to pile on so that you can get the foul in.
The team would really struggle to start with, but as time went on it would just keep improving.

great idea i love it, shame it will never happen :(

If league admins ever get the power to edit rosters freely, this actually could work. It's not like zombies would kill multiple players each day, so the work load is limited compared to the fun!
Great concept! :-D
I'd probably dump the 50% chance (to keep it easy) and add decay as suggested by harvestmouse. Still leave the choice between a raised zombie and semi-zombie though.
I don't think loner is needed on the semi-zombies, the whole team is controlled by the necromancer - either he can control them or not. They don't actually do classical teamwork anyway. ;-)

always felt this kinda rule was required didnt like feel of zombie raising. Nice suggestion

Awesome idea!
I would suggest though, that one could not choose Zombie or a Semi-Zombie. Say a 50/50 roll would determine that.
As people say, this would probably never be able to implement on fumbbl, and on TT you would never get enough matches to make a cool team. BUT this is how a Undead/Zombie team should be!!!
Ps. And you're correct on Str access is far more correct on zombies..
Posted by pythrr on 2011-09-06 14:02:06
problem with S access on zombies is the Wall of Guard that you would get.
no problem if u are the zombie horde, but a nightmare for other teams
:)
Posted by freak_in_a_frock on 2011-09-06 14:21:37
@pythrr Surely that is the whole point of a zombie horde. Single zombies are easy to beat down, but it is the horde that gets you.
And now consider no block access it fits in even better with fluff. Easy to knock down, but they just keep getting back up again, slowly over-whelming the opposition.
Finally compare the wall of guard to a dwarf team. Zombies are only 10k cheaper and have no block, tackle, thick skull or AV9. I would prefer to play vs the all zombie team than the all dwarf blocker team.

true. maybe make the zombs 50k with S access?
a horde of them, with a few raised zombies to beef/agile them up, would be loads of fun
Posted by the_Sage on 2011-09-06 15:43:16
I do like how you have no base access to agile players but need to earn them.
Hunting down Stat freaks has never been more fun.
I assume that if you killed a player with +ST, the resulting zombie would still have +ST at +50k TV, right?
Posted by freak_in_a_frock on 2011-09-06 15:55:56
No the zombie would have the +ST but still be worth the baseline 60k/80k depending on whether the skills were kept. This is why the prices of standard zombies have been increased to balance out the few stat freaks you would get.
This means that you could kill a +st +st Bob. get a 2619 player for 60k \o/. More likely though you will end up with mostly 4327 hobgob and thrall zombies for 60k :(
It is part of the charm of the team. totally over priced at the start, but with a few good kills it should balance itself out.
I quite like the decay on the semi raised zombie instead of bonehead/loner.
Posted by Overhamsteren on 2011-09-06 16:01:46
That's an awesome concept! :D
Don't really see the reason to increase the cost of normal zombies, losing general skills is big.
I also think there's a lot of skills that suit zombies in general and agility skills but of course they should only have access to one category.
Posted by Jumboparagon on 2011-09-06 19:16:46
the problem here is that the idea is a little too awsome....
As soon as Zomb+ will be available for [L] play, everyone will make a squad, then end up staring blankly down to the other side ot the pitch just to see equally useless & potentially over prices future zombies lined-up looking for better brainz :(

Love this, it's right in the True spirit of BB. Even with a few Monstrous players it would be rare for a side to be massively competitive. I could see a few (eventually) emerging as such though but god what an insane story it would make! Imagine the Character of the team!(Really lost in LRB5/6 with Legends a Dime a Dozen now)
Perhaps a raised Zombie can't be re-raised by another such side? (Or raised as a skel with more -ve's). I'm Imagining the case of a re-raised stat freak who also ends up with a ton of skills! Rare enough in TT to have common sense prevail (or it just being funny) though I expect.
It'd be nice to house rule somehow into a TT League, but speeding up development. I'd Probably go for any deaths in the games to the left and right whilst the team is playinghave a 50% of being raised as well. More shouting for blood and banter in a league is always a good thing!
Would love an experimental Div, similar to stunty, for all the mad things like this!

I would love to get to play as this team. Win rates and other teams be damned (except my next paragraph), this zombie team would be so much fun :D
Slight derailment but I'd also like a similar system for Vampires - living player killed by a vamp (+ST, +AG, +Reg, +Hypno, +Blood Lust). The sickening players that could be developed means everyone would run at least one vamp team. Oh, and I would have them able to kill their own thralls, too.

Fluff is great. However i dont think it would be good in practice. First of all it should be more simple. I dont think deciding between brainwash and no brainwash is the way to go. Zombies are general, so you should have the same concept for all zombies.
I dont like the idea of cheating on the TV by getting star players' zombie version. You should also keep the players price if you want a zombie version of it. Lets say you get a perfect wardancer, then it should be 120k. If that wardancer gets slower, and worse, then you can have some discount, but fixed price is just sick.
Think about the other side too. You manage to kill a goblin, and get it with even less movement, etc. And that player is 80k on your roster. That is just not right.
