I'm afraid soccer is best enjoyed by watching hockey instead. Go MoDo!

I always thought soccer was best appreciated by calling it football. Must just be me!

Football is best appreciated by T16 fouling.
Or watching Holland.
Both options are good.

So, was there some kind of soccer game being played between Brazil and Ukraine? And more importantly, why should we care?

I did provide a link and the sea of information is out there for you to learn more if you wish. But here is the potted history:
Just two weeks ago the expected host (in the Middle East) for this match suddenly pulled out. Feelers were put out for a replacement, and a football club from Derby — a mid-sized provincial English town — pulled out all the stops to get the game. Sadly, they ended up with very little time to advertise it, hence the poor attendance figures.
I don't know what sports (if any) you follow, but this was the kind of thing that very rarely happens and may never happen again. Think of the biggest name team in your favourite sport, unexpectedly playing in a small town in another country where that sport is also huge.
I have no plans to ever go to Brazil nor would I be likely to spend big money on World Cup games, so I had no expectation of ever seeing Brazil play. Then within one crazy day I found out about this game and got the chance to, all just half an hour from where I live.
And what it was like for the many ex-patriots (both Brazilian and Ukrainian), of whom there are many in the UK, who got to see their national teams play in the country where they work, I can only guess - but the state of the party gave me a good idea!

Ok, that info made this a lot cooler. :D
You know, maybe it should have been in the blog to begin with? Some people are just to lazy to click links :D
