Big Star Cauldron III
The Deserted Isles Blood Bowl Leeg is proud to announce the return of their tournament:

The BIG Star Cauldron III

Teams start at 1,100k value. They must have 11 starting players plus room for a mandatory Big Guy Star inducement. E.g. You could build an Orc team of 830k and take Ripper.
Admins will ensure there’s enough money in your kitty to induce your chosen Big Star every game. No dipping into this for other purchases. Also, you may only spend your winnings on team purchases (no touching the unspent start up money).

A Big Guy Star is any star St5+. There are 14 of these Big Guy Stars.

No team may have more than one Big Guy Star.

Format
One of the big disappointments of a straight knock out is you can build a wonderful team and it can all be over after a Turn 1 block (think Big Bertha on Morg in Big Star Cauldron I). These teams builds are too fun not to take for at least two drives around the block. Another option is Swiss, however, in the later rounds the losers can lose interest and hold things up by missing deadlines.

So... we're going for the best of both worlds.
Stage 1: Two rounds of Swiss. Top eight teams qualify for the knock out stage. Tie breakers are RANDOM (i.e. the Swiss TD+Cas delta is not considered). I expect there'll be a few teams straddling the cutoff on 1-0-1 and 0-2-0. This means those who lose the first round have a second chance to qualify.
Stage 2: Straight knockout with the 8 qualifiers. Seeded based on position in first round. Tiebreakers will be seeded semirandomly so that (if possible) teams won't face teams they've already played.
At most you get 5 games, at the very least you'll get 2.

Anyone is welcome, as long as they can commit to NZ timezone prime time of 7pm-9pm kickoff

Pick you favourite star, and if it's not already taken, it's yours!

Make your team in League. Apply your team to the DIBBL group, and I'll add you to this fantastic event. Tournament kicks off as soon as all 14 stars are selected and teams made.

Go the Big Guy!
