10 years is a long time
10 years in any context for a human life is a long time. For a child it can span from infancy to preteen. From teen aged years, if one goes back from a teen they are either just out of diapers or just entering 3rd grade. If you move forward you can be anywhere from college graduate aged to being considered an adult in nearly every way.

This brings me to 10 years ago when I started to play on this site. I was 23, had been laid off for the first time, with no aspirations in the world. I remember having trouble playing with the client at the time, trouble understanding how to chat to get a game and was really a novice at the game and the world in general. I was still living at home, playing upstairs in the middle of summer in an uncooled den confused about the world around me and what was to come next...

Fast forward 10 years....

Now I am a father of 2 wonderful children, the eldest about to be 9 and the youngest 6. I have been married, soon to be divorced. I have spent time working for the local police department and now work for the fire department. I have my own home now (which I am pleased to say has air conditioning) I own and have paid off my car and recently took up Karate and Aikido with my children. In blood bowl I have won a table top trophy in Milwaukee, I have been to 3 major tournaments (losing first round of every one) played 1700+ games on this site alone and my coach rating has been as high as 170 and as low as 145...

To everyone out there that has read this far, I want to thank you for being one of the constants in my last 10 years. Thank you for being there in any time of day, night or in between. Thank you for teaching me patience, understanding, tactics and how to have fun even when everything is going wrong. Thank you for being a part of my life these last 10 years, and while I do not know how many more there are to go (no one does) I hope that it will be a good long while...

Thank you Mike C

Nicely put. Not many places online where the community makes you want to spend 10 years involved with it.

Great blog. Great to see how the site has helped people and how many stay despite life changes. And new little site/client improvements keep popping up too.

So if I did the math right: First shot, bull's eye!? ;-)

Have fun for at least another 10 years.
