So, the 'What have I learned' part:
Well, I haven't played in [R] for over 100 games. My 2 remaining teams there may very soon face retirement. I am not really missing the am-I-the-Picker / am-I-the-Cherry feeling that came with every game there.
The Box can be very brutal, but one or 2 exceptions aside, I have enjoyed all my oppos. Sure, some of them only have 1 team in the box, usually a bashy one, but that is their right. I have also faced some coaches with a (deserved) reputation for using a cas-orientated approach to the game, playing squishy teams. That is their right too...
I read a lot of posts, in the forums, about 'Optimizing the TS of a team'. My personal take on this is that I don't. I choose skill and stat upgrades the way I see them improving the team. The TS is a consequence of my choices, not a goal. I am also sure that some coaches go about it the same way. not all of them, but I like to think that most of us go about it that way.
My record in the Box is no worse than my overall record on Fumbbl (296 / 227 / 743), then again, I have never claimed to be good at this game. At least, now I know where I stand, as far as coaching ability goes.
The overall feeling: If you think the box may be for you, try it. You can always leave if you find you don't like it after all. If you think the box is not for you, don't try it, it is not a must-do
