I have heard rumors and read news on that a new syndicate should be made.
But then again when I heard the rumors about that a new UFO would come out and I then saw the trailer and read that it was a FPS, then I just went back playing the old one.

Classic :)
I can still hear that old crackly voice pronounce your weapons of choice... loved me the persuadertron for an armed civy-mob-shield :D
And yeah, anything X-Com-ish after Terror From the Deep was total suckage :\

Nekran:
Naah, X-Com: Apocalypse was good. I actually really liked the pausable real-time mode.

Never played this... bummer.
I was addicted to the Pirate-series and Grim Fandango... not to mention Fallout, but that was later. :)

Oh hell yeah, Cyndicate FTW!
I've been playing old X-Com lately, you can get it from STEAM for under 5euros.
They really don't make them like that anymore.

Rumour has it that Starbreeze, the developers behind the excellent Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, are working on a remake of the 1993 Bullfrog classic, Syndicate. Project Redlime is though to be the codename for the project, which is being developed with EA.

Now if only someone would re-make Masters of Magic with a multiplayer mode, but (somehow) keep it a nice turn based strategy game with a phenomenal AI, and everything nice and balanced (like the original game is.. mostly..) and you know, with some minor updates, and maybe an extra plane or two (or maybe extra ones in multiplayer mode? that'd be neat)....
And then if only I could ever convince myself to actually finish a game of X-Com; the battles just got too repetitive (I wasn't that good at them, nor at making enough money to just walk over the battles) after you played 20 or so at a given tech level.. but the game was sooooooo good that even without ever finishing it was still one of my favourite games ever.

@Nelphine: Age of Wonders:Shadow Magic with the latest community patches/mods is extremely close to Master of Magic. Have you checked that out?
As far as X-Com goes, i just learned for the first time about UFO:Extraterrestrials and will probably grab a copy soonish :).
I found UFO:Aftershock not too bad in concept, but it was extremely slow and bugged, so can't recommend it.
The same goes for UFO:Alien Invasion the last time i checked it out about a year(?) ago. But it's an ongoing open source project, so things might be different now.

Syndicate and the first 2 XCOM titles are among the best games ever created.
The fact that they each spanned only 4 ~800k Amiga floppies is just insane.

I played this a lot on my amiga. A rerelease would match what they did with Alien Breed.

Loved Syndicate, what a game. Playing that on the Amiga alongside games such as Sensible World Of Soccer, Megalomania etc :)
