I like the idea. 24 coaches in a new league is a lot, though. Especially if you get some folks signing up thinking they'll be the highest bidder for a certain race and then get shafted. Keeping the interest of the folks in the bottom pool is harder than keeping the folks that do most of the winning.

i like the idea immensely in theory.

I guess there is a possibly huge problem with drop-out coaches though.

Just lower the teams available then. I'd be interested in seeing this work, but I think problems would present themselves.

Love the idea, especially with all 24 teams. :O
Obviously when signing up you should accept that you are not completely certain on what you get, just like the hugely popular HUBBA and 3 Dice Block leagues.

I'm a little drunk, but I didn't understand that at all.
Name that tune as in 'I name the race in one letter'?
N
So it's nurgle or norse..........ok I bid such and such?

I think the 'name that tune' reference is probably misleading. Especially as you bid downwards to name the tune. I doubt that the idea of this auction is that you start by saying I'll play the Nurgle (or whichever) team with 4 AC/CLs, next person bids 3, and the person who gets the team is the one who bids 0 AC/CLs. That just wouldn't work; everyone would open at 0.

What you could do is do a normal team draft and award points at the end of the season based on you draft position. For 1 pt for 8th 8 pts for first then a multiplier based on draft position. X1 for 1-4, x6 for 21-24 and then redraft each season.

I'm gonna put this idea on a shelf until after the World Championship (league tournament). Then maybe I'll see what kind of interest there is.

I love the idea, but I agree that you would need a very committed group of coaches.
