"there is nothing better than the sound of a fresh kill in the morning while having the first coffee and an "Oh, that's gotta hurt" :)"
The truest thing ever said :D

Civ1, Civ2, Civ4, Masters of Orion 1, Masters of Orion 2, Masters of Orion 3, Europa Universalis 1, Europa Universalis 2, Europa Universalis 3.
Those are games I will never stop playing :-D

You are right about the games developers. They make games that last a week or two of playing. But why would they make games last? They need you to get bored and go out and buy their next title. Self preservation :/

You are right...I am not an online or PC Gamer at all. I like tabletop games and stuff. Fumbbl is the only thing I play online...Also its the only game I ever played online or on PC;-)

Ok, there are definately some classics. But even with these you get bored from time to time.
But since I am here on fumbbl I didn't feel the urge to really play something else.
It is a quite mature community and it is fun to even just hang around in IRC listening and talking a bit. When I play a game, I do it for fun and for having a challenge. And BB/Fumbbl is the best combination of it I have found so far. Also adding in elements of an RPG with the skill gains.

I don`t know.. I still have to satisfy my urge to shoot things. Nowadays there is teamfortress2 to do that. Also civ4 (with the fall from heaven mod) and Warcraft3 (and soon starcraft2) have a luck independent strategic complexity, that I need after an unlucky match.

Well but still even if I play another game to take a short break from BB. There is no game I could play and feel still interested in like I have the feeling when I play BB.

When the gameplay is good, the gfx don't matter. fumbbl alone is more to play with than you ever wished for.

I disagree with the blog. Sure, there's a lot of games that seems to revolve around just having the best graphics but during the last years there has been a lot of innovative games. The Rockstar games, karaoke games, the whole Wii system, Wii fit, the very charming and origical game Loco Roco, huge multi-player online worlds that wasn't available "back in the days", complex RPG games where it feels like you take part in a movie (Like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Mass Effect) etc.
I think the gaming industry is more innovative than ever, simply because they know have the tehcnology to do it.
Blood Bowl here on Fumbbl is really fun, and that it competes with all these complex games is a testiment to how good it is, but it wouldn't be enough for me even if it had fancy graphics too. I like to switch it up when it comes to entertainment. Doing the same thing over and over only kills the interest in it.

Those simple games you mention Pirog can never compete with real gameplay!
Karaoke isnt really a game as such and certainly not a computer game. Its entertainment (well for some at least), but never compare it with game and gameplay!
Wii is actually one of the BIG sinners in the industry. Mostly its entertainment, but its a gaming console not a game. Sportsgames (on Wii) utilises the same activity you could get from actually going to a sport, just that it isnt as real as a real sport.
Rockstar i dont know, but pretty certain that it too is more of a tool to entertain than actually have a game.
The reason Counter strike was and still is the most popular shooting game, is that it has a good concept! And although i dont play it anymore, i still think of it as best in its genre, even though graphics are lousy and the engine heavy.
I DO agree with the blog - graphics has gotten too important, and most newer games lack good gameplay!

I think there are quite some interesting games but most of the time they get boring. For instance I liked the community of say UO,DaoC or in some extend WoW. The problem is that most of the time you just run around and the patterns repeat themself also depending of the publicity the community degrades (ever played WoW ;) )
I prefer the Wii to the PS3 or Xbox360. I like that they went a different route away from the nice and shiny graphics. But the games are usually either family games or party games.
Ok saying that I don't play any other game anymore at no cost isn't true. But Whichever game I touched or tried got boring after a while which BB/Fumbbl hasn't become ever and I don't see that it will become boring in the near or far future :)
