Well, the good news is that it got fixed for the cost of the parts. The bad news is that the government gas man who did it informed us we need repairs to be up to code....

You have a boiler in your house ? But aren't you a goldfish ? It's cruel to put a boiler in a goldfish's aquarium ...

Glad its all working for the time being. I feel for you, I had a similar problem a couple of years ago when the central heating packed up on Christmas Day. It was fixed the day after Boxing Day and finally broke down again on New Years Day. I had over a week without heating whilst a new system was installed.
Good luck with the repairs.

Hang in there Mac. Nothing worse than no heater in a Canadian winter.

And the repairs come in just under $300! There goes 75% of the the cash we saved over Christmas towards visiting my sister in Morocco next year.... Ah, well, more motivation to finish my addictive internet game and make millions, I suppose.....
Thanks for all the well-wishes.
@Ancre: Made me smile!
