Quenelles Sports Today, 5/2/2518:
Today an OBC Sport associate leaked out a conflicting information regards how team ranking is going to get affected by the change of the FUMBBL tournament system. Officially we were told that the point calculation of teams stay as it is currently, but now it seems that it will change as well.
Wicked tongues say that SR chief Adam Szieberth attempted to keep these information in secret to get some unfair advantage to his newly managed team, the Muaz which already won a Royal Rookie Rumble match that assures its Top25 position in the Goblin Rosterial SR. Based on the leaked out new team point methodology, probably this particular Goblin team will be taken to many tournaments in the future to get some more advance on the rankings.
However, the timing of the team's entering into the SR is in contradiction to common sense as the top SR positions of inferior races – and Goblins are one of those – are usually taken by the best four teams of the XFL. Yet Goblin XFL is running without the Muaz. It can be that today's leaked out information are nothing more than a weirdly published errata.
Now get to the point. For teams, the reserved slots of major tournaments will get decreased by one from 30/7/2518 and the regular slots will get increased by one at the same time. Moreover, from 10/9/2518 there will be no reserved slot for the FUMBBL cup for teams as team FC results will take a major slot instead. At the same time, team regular slots will be increased by one again. This ends up teams with 2/1/9 slots for majors (including FC, except XFL Masters) / XFL (including the Masters) / displaced and minor tournaments.
This change let teams to make more of their tournament progressions get drawn into SR. Teams will not pushed to participate in many majors anymore but for the optimal SR performance, it is advised to them to participate in at least two majors, XFL (still unskippable), and as many minors as possible.
Reception of the change is questionable though as there are very few (zero?) teams which seems to target any of the SR top positions. It is also less popular among coaches than officially expected, but among teams SR is almost ignored. One of the objective of the team rankings was to encourage coaches to pick their tournament teams and take them into many tournaments which would result more famous teams in the long term. There is nothing to show any success in this matter as very few of them took part in more than 4-5 tournaments per year.
Secrecy and compromised SR associates will certainly not help.
