What's wrong with those pointy ears!?
Having played a few matches in Academy and one in League with Dwarfs, I decided to try my luck with High Elfs in Ranked. Once, I steered a bunch of those guys onto the second place of eight in a boardgame league. So I brought the Platinum Rangers into life and started playing.

I decided for Variation 7 from the help as starting rooster since I was eager for at least one of each positional player, two Dragon Warriors and 9 FF. The comment given there made sense to me: You need money, you have speed and blocking power, an overall AG of 4 plus Pass and Catch. What could possibly go wrong having only one RR?

Well, the balance after my first five matches is discouraging: Only one win against a Norse team, while I got outrun and outleaped twice by Wood Elfs, beaten up by Lizardmen and beaten up again by Dark Elfs. At least there were no deaths or severe injuries up to now. However, in four of five matches I just couldn't get a safe grip on the ball. And isn't this the very point in playing Elfs of any kind?

By now, I bought a second RR and I'm going for the third one. Maybe I should revise my strategy as well. Always dodging away from the opponent isn't that important when playing against another non-bashing team. More reliance on an AV of 8 seems to be one key amongst others. However, I was very suprised to learn that a Dark Elf team, whose rooster didn't differ that much from that of the Platinum Rangers, nonetheless is much more violent than the High Elfs. So you never know whether you are facing a bunch of thugs or not, i.e. whether you should run like hell or stay and accost the opposing players.

Seems like I will have to learn making this decision just in time, online so to say. Seems like I have to learn a lot more about the elfish style of playing Blood Bowl. And it seems like the Platinum Rangers really do need a feeling of success. Losing again and again just doesn't go well with being superior to mortals.

Five games with HE and no permanent injuries, that is a really good start, don't hang too much on your winning streak or lack there off. This is Fumbbl and people here play literally hundreds if not thousands of matches so most coaches you face here will be much better than what you are used to.

Think about how many games you play in a tabletop league and against how many opponents and then compare that to the people you play against here. There really isn't much to compare when it comes down to it. On Fumbbl you meet more people with different strategies, people with loads of experience and people that have played more matches than you and all your friends combined.

Fumbbl is a harsh mistress, but also a good place to watch, play and LEARN!

Enjoy ;-)

Winning 3 games out of 9 when you first join fumbbl really aint that bad at all.
