Yet you have a Ranked Chaos team with 145 games played, of which 30 were vs elf/skaven teams. It can't be all bad right? That is about the same ratio as my teams meet elves in the box.
Also, if you want more elfs, play more elfs.
Posted by asteflix on 2016-10-01 14:50:17
Yes , but I had to sometimes sit AGES in gamefinder only to get 1 elf match. Talking 12hrs and more and some dudes still refuse to play my team in it's current state. Which is ludicrous ( talking 2 mb and that's it)

Did you also tell your friend about the [EU] box? I hate the notion that box should be 'the place to minmax' but if he wants to play what he wants he should be able to find his place there.

He's a new player , he wants to play a fun team , he's in NA , all that he wanted was the freedom to play what he wants when he wants (Against varied opponents) , which is not the case.
Posted by asteflix on 2016-10-01 14:57:58
Thing is , if you're a NEW PLAYER , you shouldnt have to restrict what you play against because you shouldnt even be aware of those things ! A new player at least should have diversity in his matches ! A new player should have nice old coaches to teach him stuff instead of INSULTING HIM because he plays team A instead of team B.

It's as infuriating as explaining to your kid back in the 1900 that you had to sit in the back of the bus and you couldnt eat in some places. Point is , you'd still get to sit in a bus and you'd still get to eat out but you'd get shitty food and strange gazes and that's NOT RIGHT PEOPLE. (If you dont get it im refering to racial segregation) which is what you guys are doing (to a lesser extent)

Well, you don't "fix ranked" by telling people to "pollute" box (if you disagree with what they're doing). Box has a rep for a lot of things it doesn't actually contain/display all the time because it's very easy for people to simply say "box is where the bad stuff happens".
As you've discovered... it isn't really.
In fact, anything you can do in [B], you can do in [R], with one small caveat - you're not assured of getting a game with it. People will point to this as evidence that the most antisocial members/teams on the site therefore will flock to [B] and remain there. Anyone who's ever actually spectated, never mind played, a few games in [R] will know that that belief is absolutely misplaced.

My point is that a new player shouldnt get into bloodbowl with the perspective of not being able to play what he wants because he's gonna get insulted and he wont even be able to find a game if he plays what he loves.

I agree with that, I just take umbrage at the idea that "box is for minmax".
Your issue as it appears isn't minmax, or cpomb spam or anything really about roster building. It's a prevalence of (in)human(e) attitude towards self-selecting for personal gain (either in-game or meta-game).
In effect, your issue is that people in ranked can pick, and not only do they pick, but their manner of doing so (and the accepted manner within the division) allows them to (a) play vs players who are forced into making sub-optimal skill choices merely to get a game, (b) play games that are also lopsided in their favour in terms of TV against these teams as their opponent is simply desperate for a game, and (c) justify a+b, and feel morally superior to their hapless opponent, simply because their multiple pombers etc do not have access to a skill called "claw".
I've said multiple times [R] can have all the same problems as [B]. It also has a multitude more that [B] doesn't have.

Play some matches in Secret League/League with him and teach him the game, then, when he's enough aware of the game he can play the team he wants in Black Box.

In my experience people don't get insulted for what type of team they play. They get insulted for how they act in the game.
The NA time zone is notorious for having less games played, but with less people on the site at those times it's to be expected.
Posted by asteflix on 2016-10-01 15:22:35
I whole-heatedly agree with what you said AD. It's just that I want him to have a few games against better coaches than me before directing him to B. I can't teach him everything for I am not a ''Good'' coach , and I really hope he likes the game so I dont want him to have an unlucky stroke of matches and get disinterested in this great game.

@easilyamused I was personally insulted for playing chaos numerous times. Sometimes not even in a hidden way , just look in the comments of previous blogs.

Asteflix: 145 club (league) will get him shark-free games, and https://fumbbl.com/p/group?op=view&group=5413 faculty of academy instructors.
If he makes a league team there are quite a number of coaches on the site who will happily take some time to play an educational game if they're pm'd. The faculty lists a few.

Please direct him to the 145 club.

Alright , I will do that thank you people :)

It sounds like you're projecting a lot onto this new coach. Direct him towards the 145 Club to ease him onto Fumbbl and he'll find his way from there.

Either he has what it takes to play blood bowl or tell him pack up his skirt and find a more care bear game to play.
Posted by pythrr on 2016-10-02 07:27:39
oo, CARE BEARS
