Striving for Change
So, I'm trying to fill my Box grid.

In fits, and starts, I reached a point where I nearly quit FUMBBL, and Blood Bowl entirely. I was finding the Box to be a repetitive grind. Instead of quitting, I'm going to try to force myself to diversify.

I'm staying somewhat within my comfort zone so far, Chaos, Humans, Skaven, Dark Elves, Necromantic. However, I plan in the coming weeks to add Undead, Vampires, High Elves, and Pro Elves to that mix. Ogres, Pact, Halflings and Underworld should follow close behind.

When I activate for the box, I'll activate them all.

If you can't beat the culture, you can at least not contribute to it.

What about trying to become Legend with every race but the joke teams in the Box division?

"If you can't beat the culture, you can at least not contribute to it."

I don't think the culture is bad. I rarely play the common races in Box these days. I just don't expect to win with the lesser races. The fun is what you make of it.

The guy is commenting on his game culture, doesn't merit the TWO votes of one's so far. !!!!

"I don't think the culture is bad."

I don't know. Recently I'm a bit fed up with playing Chaos Dwarves in more than 20% of my Box games (out of 24 rosters).

To he point where I started to think it's really bad.

When I'm in the mood, I do an ARR sprint to be part of the solution, but some days the problem just seems too much and I don't play at all.

I'm so tired of people complaining about the black box. No offense mate but a, why you found it like a repetitive grind is probably because you set out to fill a grid and you know what that's just straight up grinding so if you can't handle that filling the grid is probably not that good of an idea. b, you only have like 100+ in the box and the only three races you played a bit is humans, chaos and CD. The other races you barely touched so now you say you will mainly activate humans, chaos, DE etc. Really I don't know what this post is about apart from you being negative about the box. It's very easy either you like the fact that you get pitched about what ever creapy team that awaits you in the arena or you don't. If you do decide to play then go for it but talking the box down ain't helping for nothing. And also it seems that negativity towards the box leads to min-maxing! Fact. :)

Sorry if that sounded a bit harsh mate just want people to be a bit more positive here on FUMBBL it's to much negativity around something people seem to love playing. I don't get that really. So sorry if was offensive in any way.

It's gonna take some time but you'll get there. 2000+ Games should get you to about 80% full.

It's a well known fact that the scheduler appreciates people playing lesser played races. I've had >70 games with my ogres in the past 2 months and my most common opponents are humans and goblins (!). Only faced cdorfs once and chaos 4 times.

Likewise my new goblin team have played 5 games and only 1 has been against a non stunty race.

Sure, box has an image problem. But it's no longer as deserved as (I hear) it once was. And it's rich to complain about a lack of variety when you don't play variety. So I greatly applaud your sentiments about starting other races :)

Maybe find something in addition to winning to motivate you with the team. Dense fluff, ongoing story or even a meta game can all help with a candle when times are dark. Examples include jarvis_pants' surf themed witch elves or akarenton's (thunderclap) passing Chaos team. Or Miceycraft's excellent pirates. Or wintergreen's poets.

At the end of the day, play what makes you happy. Play the meta, ignore the meta, make a new meta (0rr ogres ftw)

@ Triton: When you got my CDs yesterday, I actually had Dark Elves, Undead, Khemri, and Lizardmen with 3 MNG Sauri, all activated. Having played a fair bit of Darkies and High Elves in the Box, I get the frustration, I really do. On the other hand, we can't expect to get match-ups where we run around in circles around our opponent every time. Personally I think the balance is okay. Elven teams have a relatively short life span in the Box but they can be really good while they last.

So many Ogres in box. Quarter of the games have an Ogre team. Madness. Ogres.

Won't someone please diversify, couldn't we have some Nurgs and Chorfs full of CPOMB or something?

The above message was bought to you by the glory that is ARR and HLP and ELF. CPOMB optional. Khemri are cool too, as long as you foul every turn.

Good idea to add some variety. Enjoy.

I've been enjoying playing pact in the box! I know the intention for them is to play with all 3 big guys, but I like playing with just 1. And the gobbo is tons of fun when he sprouts an extra head...

The gobbo is fun when he has AG 4, fire him if he doesn't get it at the first skill roll.
