I have had a bad run of luck lately. Four failed apoths in a row, failed apoths that has killed two kroxigors on my lizardman team, which helped the TS plummet more than thirty points in a couple of games, was the worst thing. This far.
Today, I played a game vs Chaos with my High Elves. The other player just started playing, but he has had good luck with his skill rolls (three claws!), an his playing style is rapidly improving, so it ended up in an entertaining tie with lots of havoc on both sides. A tough game where I managed to only get a good lineman killed (due to, of course, a failed apothecary). But look, it's not so bad! The gained SSP meant three level ups, you see! Lost two skills, gained three! Not bad, huh?

First catcher. His first skill. Aging roll failed, NIGGLED!
Second catcher. His first skill. Aging roll failed. NIGGLED!
Third roll gave a newbie lineelf block.
So I lost half of my positionals to skill-ups, and have 10 players instead of a healthy 12. So I'll lose even more elves because I can't help but being outgunned. Aging is just evil, and I can see no reason for there ever to be aging roll on first skills. How is it supposed to make the game more balanced, or, help god, fun?
Now I'm off to meet a team called "Pile on!". I want to earn my losses of players on the field, being torn apart by chaotic madmen! Not by having bad luck when getting skills, dammit! Those losses I can take.
EDIT: I won the game 4-0, but of course, the apoth failed his roll and I lost my last remaining experienced skink to a niggling SI. What were the odds?
EDIT2: and my only good saurus got a niggle after that game, too, on his skill-up.
