Japan!
I don't know how many on here follow rugby, but it's a world cup year and it's happening right now! Yesterday saw what has been described as maybe the biggest upset in sporting history as Japan (who I don't think have ever won a world cup game before) beat 3 times world champions South Africa. I jumped and cheered like it was England as the plucky japs went for the try in overtime instead of kicking for a very worthy draw.

Upsets happen a lot less frequently in rugby union than most sports, and this was a huge one.

I'll be attending next weekend to see if South Africa can bounce back. Come on a Samoa!

Last time Japan won a world cup game was 24 years ago!!!

Argentina were looking good for 60 mins!

Yeah I thought Argentina would have held on Luxy, but they fell apart in those last 20 minutes.

I have drawn the Spring-bocks (that is South Africa Rugby team for those who don't know) in my work sweep stake and was watching expecting to see 'my' team have an easy win - by the end of the first 20 mins I was cheering for the Brave Blossoms (Japan) instead. Incredible heroism going for the win, I can only hope for more of the same in the next few weeks.

suck it, Yarpies.

And SA are only 2-tims winners (95, 07); not three times.

have no idea about rugby, but i enjoyed seeing Japan (my home for 8 years) win in that fashion. (fyi: the word japs is often considered derogatory)

Really? I thought calling the Japanese japs was like calling the Scottish Scots?

@pythrr: Apologies. I thought the guy on the telly said 3. Didn't check my facts :P

Yeah the Jap game (:p) was fantastic! Their 29-29 tying try was the best one so far in the tournament. So nice! :)

Definitely not Mr J. There's a big difference. Scots, Pols, etc are legitimate terms. Japs was a derogatory war term.

It seems to be ok to use that in Australia though. Times are changing though, as the west and Japan don't have any real disagreements now. Still I would reserve it to stuff like Jap-Tech, that's fine. I wouldn't personally use it for people.

That's fine, I don't mind being schooled :P

I'll leave it in the original post now though, or the comments won't make sense :)

Awesome tournament so far, will almost be a shame when it's over and Ireland have won.

Tosh. Tosh and piddle! Poppycock even!

Ireland? I'm going to make a bold guess and say New Zealand. Yeah, I said it, even though no one else believes! :D
