Wäŋa Warriors Ascendancy: Epilogue, where to from here
After my Premier victory I had to park for a season while I moved interstate. This automatically put me down to the conferences, but one season later I am back up there again.

I can still see improvement on my side. My troll really needs Block (I cut the old one for getting 4 skills without it) and my new Blitzer has only has one skill. I have not had a lot of luck with my Black Orcs, I lost a Veteran and a Star to thrown rocks, and a Superstar to a turn 0 blitz! Apothecary's were no help. Needless to say that the kick off table is not my friend. I would love to get a side going with 230TV and four potent Black Orcs.

But of course, you are going to lose players, so this isn't guaranteed on a long enough time line. Players die and Black Orcs take forever to skill.

Now I have won it with Orcs and unforlorned them I am really tempted by two sides, Khemri and Chaos Pact. Neither has won before and I have plans for both of them. I would love to try a Grab-heavy Khemri side. I think with ST5, they could tie up two players at a time. It would really free up the rest of the side. With the Pact, there are so many options. In general I think people vastly underestimate Foul Appearance. And they shouldn't be passing!

Of the two I think that Khemri appeal to me the best, in the way that they play. I hate Big Guys nega-traits enough, getting around with three of them? And they are so hamstrung without access to M on singles, especially the minotaur who is close to useless. That being said, I think Pact have the best chance of winning. I also think that Khemri have had a coach who has given them a real crack over the years and I am not sure I could improve that much. Pact have had sides, but none posting 100+ games. I predict my best chance of winning a title with an unforlorned race would be with Pact.

With the year and a half it would take to build a side that could challenge (at least) and the surrounding uncertainly with GW and rules (and how SWL would handle them) I will stick with Orcs for the time being. If someone killed my stat-freak Ubirr (6 4 4 9 block, dodge, sure hands, stand firm) I would certainly think about quitting the Orcs and starting again.

That being said if he lives long enough to become a legend he will get another skill. I very much hope it is a stat. If he gets doubles I would be tempted for Leap as it would make him close to unstoppable on the drive. If he got singles then Kick-Off Return is the front runner, as that extra movement in forming my cage, especially against the fast sides, would be pretty sweet. But I am also equally tempted by Tackle, even perhaps on a double. In defence I struggle with him, although he is st4 I don't want to use him to repeatedly throw blocks, as it opens him up to being hit back. He makes for a great sweeper but without Tackle his effectiveness is sort of limited.

Well, that's it from me, I have really enjoyed the Orcs and here is to another Premier run!

I think Underworld should be right up your alley for the next unforlorned race. I am trying my best but lets face it I am not a very good coach :)

Hi Stu,
Thanks for this series about your orc team. I have a newer orc team, the GlamRok, playing in the White Isle League Fringe, and it's really interesting your idea's about skill development, I may well copy some of them :-) (especially the stat boosts, already have one +Ag and one +St blitzer).

Good luck with whatever your next race is. I reckon Khemri could be the way to go, for me they play the most similar to orcs.

In my humble opinion definitely develop the +ag as the main ball carrier, and don't bother with a thrower. Give him sure hands next, stand firm after that (huge advantage being able to cage him with two players using the wide zone), and definitely hope for a double so you can take dodge. I haven't had a +ST blitzer but I would turn into your main... 'blitzing blitzer' with tackle, mighty blow, frenzy, stand firm. Don't worry about Guard so much, that's what the rest of the side is for :)

Underworld = I think I would be very bad with them. They certainly would be very interesting to play with. Lizardmen are sort of on my radar as I am best with them, and do one other than Faulcon has won in CRP. So I tell you what - if I win with Pact, Khemri & Lizardmen I will take underworld next. Haha.
