The Death of a Dwarven Legend
Breaking news from the Frenzied Flames. Tragedy has struck the team as the legendary runner, Drumin the Brave, has been killed in his match against Lochore Terrors, cutting his career short while he was just one touchdown away from breaking the all time scoring record for dwarves in the ranked division. He now currently shares the record with Sagnar Ironjaw, but as Ironjaw, is still an active blood bowl star, it would seem it is only a matter of time until he reclaims sole possession of the record. Drumin still retains the record for the most touchdowns by a runner is ranked, but John Little is a strong candidate to overtake that record, provided he can stay alive.

Drumin was an original player from the Flames, back when it was a rookie team with a rookie head coach. In order to try to create a bond between the players on the team, the coach had the players give each other each a adjective for a title. Drumin was one of the first to earn his title; the team had stayed at an inn on their way to their first match, and the team purchased a large keg of beer to drink that night, but shortly into the evening a fire broke out in the inn, and the team evacuated. All the team except Drumin that is. Drumin ran to the keg as all his new friends ran toward the exit, and then burst his way back through the burning building to rejoin the team. He was greeted with hardy congratulations for saving the beer, and the team granted him the title of "the Brave" for his actions.

Drumin's prowess for the game of blood bowl quickly showed, and it became apparent that not only was he faster and more agile than his teammates, but his strength surpassed them as well. Drumin would punch, dodge and run his way through defenders on his way to a record setting touchdown pace. However, in a fateful game against the 6FeedUnder, disaster struck. Drumin had been with the same core group of blockers over his entire career, and the veteran blockers had become very skilled, and their blocks often paved clear paths for Drumin to run to the endzone. However, in that game, 3 of Drumin's teammates, close friends and powerful blockers were killed or forced into retirement. A lesser dwarf would have caved into the pressure of having to carry the team as new talent developed, but not Drumin. Drumin's touchdowns per game actually increased over this time period, and he thrived under these hard conditions.

Drumin is succeeded by Logan the Rested, a runner who was given his title as a joke by his teammates because they thought with how good Drumin was, this new runner would never see play. Logan proved to be a valuable asset to the team, however, with great speed to allow him to chase down opponents the other players on the team never could. When asked about how he would deal with the loss of a player as skilled as Drumin, the Flames coach stated, "You can never replace a player like that. All we can do is do the best with what we have. Logan is a very talented runner, and I trust he will lead the Flames to even greater glory." Though Logan will be the team's main runner, the blocker Rarek the Dizzy, the last remaining member of the original team, will likely take over the team's leadership role.

(If you guys enjoyed this read, I'll be doing this for all my players who reach legend and are retired or killed. I might even do it if no one enjoyed it, since I enjoyed writing it.)

Wait Drumin The Brave had dodge and fend! That doesn't sound very brave to me!

Anyway may his little Dwarfy beard rest peacefully in the halls of his ancestors.

My condolences!

Just yesterday I took screenshots of the top list to document my Agility Monsters' players' achievements there. Now I have to redo since Rhoda ( https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=player&player_id=7991234 ) has one tough rival less. Well, good for her...

Very nice blog entry, I'd love to read more about the Frenzied Flames! :-)

Update:

With Drumin's departure, Rhoda has now finally reached the top 10 of dwarven tops stars and dwarven runner top scorers. She also became #3 runner when it comes to throwing blocks.

However, it was no happy news to her at all: "I'll perform a ritual of mourning tonight in the tavern. We shall set a keg of beer on fire an empty it before a single drop is lost! Hail, Drumin the Bravest!"
