Scandal rocked this year’s
national championship, as not only was a team of dubious qualifications represented on the pitch, but a fight between
UMBC and
FSU students from the stands spilled out onto the field, resulting in a pitch invasion.
Hoping to learn from high level play before their inaugural season, students from UMBC traveled to attend the National Championship game of Jumps Hop-Kings vs Marshall. Upon reaching the gates, it seemed that ushers had been waiting for students from a Lizardmen university, and ushered them to their seats. The students became engrossed in the game, stomping their feet and cheering as the frogs they were rooting for applied well placed boots on downed beastmen.
However, as the game was set to move to overtime, the UMBC students found themselves suddenly accosted by FSU students claiming that UMBC had “stolen” their seats. The UMBC students countered that they had been led to their seats by the ushers, had been there the whole game, and if the FSU students were this late to show, they had forfeited their seats anyway. Heated arguments led to pushing and shoving, until the ensuing brawl was so great that it spilled over into the pitch itself.
UMBC Athletic director Drrek declined to comment on the accusations of stolen seats by FSU, but praised his team’s initiative to study the best of the best, and their physicality in the brawl.
