In a sudden press conference today, the newly created University of Merland, Basilisk Clutch Athletic Department announced that it has petitioned the NCBB for membership. Citing the outpouring of student support following the impromptu scrimmage game against Mary’s Land, athletic director Drrek said, “It's just about time there were more Lizards in the NCBB, and I am proud of our students for the support they have given to this end.”

Several Sauri students from the Applied Physics program have joined the program and were present at the press conference. When asked why they wanted to join, one said, “We saw how them Mary’s Land folk applied physics to them skinks, and we saw the value in that practical experience.”

In other blood bowl news, Xaxdoratalan, an assistant coach who had been slated to work for FSU was announced to have joined the new UMBC blood bowl program. When asked about the rumor that they only joined due to a misunderstanding with the offer, they declined to comment. However one reporter close by reports to have heard the coach mutter under their breath, “Who [expletive] names a school Merland right next to Mary’s land?”
