It's still too hot... :)

I think we can all agree on that bruv :)

Maybe I can be wrong but the new Orc team doesn't sound boring to play, not more than the current roster, at least.
Trolls can Vomit now, Black Orcs have MA 5, TTM has been improved.
Yes, there is Animosity, but it adds character and fits the lore.

I love your posts. I was expecting something about monkey poo flinging. I was disappointed.
BUT youre right about emotional reactions. Whether positive or negative, its justified. For years, folks have played BB and supported it. Now Gdub is in all practicality changing the game.
I love the folks that point out you can still play the old rules - as if folks can choose to be unaffected. Can we still play CRP and BB2016, absolutely... on tabletop. Not here and more than likely not at a large NAF tournament. And certainly not with newer players jumping into the game that just bought the new rules. Theres a reason why anyone with a GW game rarely ever is seen playing the older rules and its not always because the new edition is better.
So I feel for ya. Old ball has been with ya for a while and youre watching it wither and die before you. And while some are going to dismiss it as just a game and chastise you for your sadness, I do not. I get where you are coming from. Cheers friend.

I believe orc blitzers have also been downgraded to ma5..? Not sure if its true or not but if so it will make the team much less dynamic.

The new (Black) Orc team looks super fun - they will be so great to foul with, using grab to position opponents for massive gang fouls by the goblins.

I totally understand your feelings since I share most of them.
Honestly, FUMBBL is going to lose a lot of appeal to me with these new rules since it is going to lose diversity.
Nowadays, you can play low/medium/high/freaking high tv as you please, thus fitting in a lot of different interests.
You don't care about long-term goals? You can ALREADY build a team in the box and play 10 games with it or join a RRR or do an online NAF tournement.
You want to do a legendary team of CD only with hobgoblin? You can (probably better if you do it in R) and build your legacy.
You want to compete in a major? Play lots of games and go above 2000k to meausure yourself against monster teams or you can just spectate incredible (even if not really balanced) games among legends.
You want to play a small online league? You can.
You want to sit at medium tv since you think that the game is more balanced there?
Again you can.
You want to build a crazy team and be involved in a long-term league full of fluff? CIBBL, SLICC and so on.
With the strict implementation of seasons, I don't see many of the things which make FUMBBL unique going to remain.
P.s As a 20-years player of WHFB with 5 armies completely collected and painted, Age of Sigmar with its Sigmarines and Fishelves sucks ;)
Posted by MattDakka on 2020-08-13 13:37:21
I agree with Arthas85, Age of Sigmar sucks (WHFB player since 4th edition here).
Anyway, let's think of this: if Christer can bother to update the rules, we can surely bother to try them before dismissing them.
Not saying we should be super-hyped, but at least let's try some games.
I'm not super enthusiast about Season redraft, but on the other hand playing TV gap matches vs super high TV teams is not fun either to me.
Just, I would have liked a slightly higher TV redraft or a simple hard cap without Seasons at all, but maybe I'm wrong.
That said, if your goal and fun of BB comes from fluff and playing bloated teams with old players, yes, I understand that the new rules are very disappointing.

I want to stress this out: I think that the nice thing of the site is variety.
You can live the game with different short/medium/long-term goals and this variety helps the community.
I feel that the new skill-choice system (oh you took me away that shiver when I roll the dice and hope for double) and the redraft are very likely to narrow the possibilities and the variety here on fummbl...and of course the two things are closely linked: the new skill choice without redraft could be even worse than frequent redraft.
However, the future seems to take away from many players the goals that are quite exclusive of this site, thus leaving a NAF-style of play and minmaxing (which I really don't like) as almost the only way to go.

Yes I think the variety issue is a big one. People who can't commit to compete in leagues may be losing their team building, and arguably worthwhile fluff, options.
Posted by MattDakka on 2020-08-13 18:31:26
Even non-team builders will experience the lack of variety.
Playing teams needing development is not appealing, if you have to redraft them over and over again.
Chaos and Nurgle are almost pointless, so people will play mostly strong low TV races (who are not as penalized by redraft as teams starting without core skills). Dwarfs can afford to start over and over again, due to their default skills spam, unlike Chaos and Nurgle.

2020 New Rules Haters Front. SPLITTERS!, Haters Front of the New Rules 2020 for life!
Posted by Halfabrain on 2020-08-13 22:08:34
@Arthas85 I agree it's the potential loss of variety that seems to have the most people riled up. The fact the game as it stands is a bit broken at very high tv levels doesn't seem to bother anyone really.
@Grod tbh I hadn't actually considered that... just goes to show we shouldn't judge it before we try it.

@hissa-lives its not to late to come back to the fold...
We can discuss what GW ever did for us

@Halfabrain, well it definitely wasn't sanitation!

The AoS arrival was a lot different to these Blood bowl changes so I don't think that experiance is so relevant. It was destroying the setting rather than trying to revamp the rules that caused the outrage, regardless of how much fun the play is now the fluff is now cheesy and weak and basically a lot of it was done for copyright reasons as opposed to anything else. The rules of FB were clunky and needed improving as did having to paint a stupid amount of models to get even a half decent sized force. You could do that without nuking everything, the nuking was not done to improve the rules that was done to milk money from people. Old World fluff is a million times better and more in depth than AoS and it will be for years. I've read some new books but the old stuff is just better.
CRP was not a clunky ruleset that takes hours to play and nor is this a total rewrite of existing rules, this ignores many of the worst aspects of CRP "fixes" things that weren't a problem and wrecks parts of the game that actually needed improving.
Whatever else you think BB2020 and Age of Sigmar are far from equivalent situations.
