CIBBL XII Autumn Season Write-up
We are ALWAYS recruiting. If you are interested please check out the CIBBL homepage or join us on Discord

Warning- This is a long read. Find the heading for the division you want or skip to the end for the big boys in Gold.

CIBBL Year XII has come to a close and the Winter friendlies are currently taking place with teams variously going on holiday, developing, re-building, or crippling themselves just in time for the new Spring season.

The Autumn Tournaments saw teams ranked according to their prestige and as always was a hard fought and bloody affair.

Clay

The young up and comers were grouped together in Clay Division and saw a tight fight for top spot. The former coach of the infamous Stirpoint Butchers (Ogre) started his new career on a high by winning the division with High Counsel of Huanabic (Slann). He was pushed all the way by the Raging Host (Kurnous) who only just missed out on the title by TD difference alone with the ancient vampires of Neferata's Fangs (Lahmian) close behind in 3rd. Some distance back in 4th were the Incendiaries (Khorne) who might not have won all their games but evidently won all their fights, finishing with a ferocious +9 Cas difference. A single point below them were Doomed Chorus (Daemons of Malal) in 5th with the Privateers (Pirates of Sartosa) and Kiss of Kalida (Lybaras) in 6th and 7th a further point behind. We look forward to seeing these young teams develop, they have all shown great potential though it remains to be seen if they can live up to the promise of some of the famous old teams their races have formerly sent to the CIBBL competition.

Granite

Next up in Granite Division, Zlatan Sport Spawning (Skink) showed that greatness can come in very small packages with a stunning upset win, taking the trophy without losing a game. They were pushed hard by a classy Viragos (Daemons of Slannesh) team in 2nd and the tough Grey Boars (Ironbreakers) in 3rd. 4th position went to the hard fighting Frozen Hole Warriors (Norse Dwarf) with the injury ravaged Bloodkeep (Blood Dragon) in 5th who are retiring. 6th placed Kureshi Komets (Snakemen) were among the pre-tournament favourites but also struggled dreadfully with injuries, as did the Unwashed Horde (Hung) in 7th who will want to forget their bad luck and use Winter to re-arm and rebuild.

Marble

Marble Division was the hardest fought of all the competitions this season and also one of the most thrilling, having upsets and drama all the way through. The top three were separated by only a single point with Blood Kiss Utd (Necrarch) coming from behind to take the title, beating 2nd and 3rd place finishers Brothers of Skroll (Cult of Ulric) and long time fan favourites Dreadpeak Delusionals (Night Goblin) in their final two games. Brothers of Skroll will be devastated to have missed out by such a tiny margin and will be motivated to put the score right in their next outing while the Delusionals made a mockery of the bookies writing them off by finishing with a hugely creditable 5/0/2. Howling Wastes Wazzoks (Chaos Dwarf) in 4th are still a very young team but are a fearsome proposition already and have a bright future as do 5th place Legion of Bronze (Ka-Sabar) who saw some frighteningly good development in recent games and will be ones to watch in the seasons ahead. In 6th were the Gears of Glory (Engineers) who though also young, already have quite a following and while struggling to score, they caused a predictably large amount of mayhem with their many entertaining and highly illegal on-field contraptions. Sadly pre-tournament favorites and one of the oldest teams in CIBBL Livin' Thing (Undead) were a no-show and finished bottom. We can only hope that they will return in the future to continue breaking hearts and heads as they have done for so long.

Tin

Tin Division was an especially bloodthirsty one even by CIBBL standards, seeing 12 serious injuries and 5 deaths in the first 3 games alone. Season winners Venomous Ophidians (Blood Naga) were badly mauled in their first match but recovered to take the title while Madeyes Merciless Manglers (Clan Mors) who themselves were decimated last Spring, killed 3 Kings Shadow (Simyin) players in their first game and finished just 1 point behind in 2nd. The Kings Shadow Ballers, despite their crippling early losses, did well by dragging their way to 3rd, a point ahead of the Badlands Headhuntaz (Savage Orc) in 4th who also took casualties though cheerfully inflicted many more. 5th placed Unmei no ken (Nippon) showed some classy play but have suffered steady attrition throughout the year. Autumn was no different and they struggled to field a full team, the same problem faced by longtime CIBBL veterans Deluge-Bearers (Clan Pestilens) in 6th who lost their last remaining original players this year including the terrifying Plague Censer-Bearer and league legend Xelk Prideborn. The Deluge in particular will be looking to rebuild and recapture their former glory. Rounding off the Division in a disappointing 7th were the retiring Krizzor Trap Baiters (Clan Moulder) who sadly for them never really got going on their final outing after a good showing in Summer and winning their Spring competition outright in fearsome style.

Copper

Copper Division was one for the tacticians with 10 out of the 21 games played ending in draws. Ruin Bay (Chaos Renegades), who came into the competition on the back of 3 consecutive 2nd place finishes finally broke their duck by narrowly taking the Title by TD difference over pre-season favorites and Spring XI winners Missionaries of Malal (Malal). The ferocious Onyx Horde (Centigor) took 3rd with a +14 casualty rate, the joint 2nd highest in the whole league, with division minnows the Hellriders (Dark Elf) using their slick play and dazzling offense to get them to 4th. Warpfire Warlocks (Clan Skyre) came into the division on the back of winning their Summer competition in brutal style and had high hopes but Nuffle is a cruel master and they shipped 11 TDs to finish a disappointing 5th. Also unlucky in what will be their last season were the Krakens (Sea Elf) with a succession of last minute TDs conceded seeing them end in 6th. Shikike Tsien-Tsin (North Nippon) are a fearsome side with tough, capable players and a terrifying Oni leading the line but despite an 11+ Cas rate they struggled to find a win this time, condemning them to 7th.

Bronze

Bronze Division had a host of famous CIBBL teams but the eventual winner was a relative newcomer, though still a veteran in their 3rd year. Psycho Circus Clowns (Carnival of Chaos) won their second and by far most prestigious division title to date, 2 points clear of longtime CIBBL hard cases Shield of Settra (Khemri) in 2nd and the evergreen perennial challengers Yennla Eternals (Isha) in 3rd. Yennla in particular suffered badly from injuries in what was a hard-hitting division. 1 point behind them in 4th was the Horned Legion of Arkhar (Kurgan) who also suffered, with their lethal blitzers failing to fully live up to their fearsome reputation. One stout fellow did manage to punch the ticket of the Shield's head murderer in chief so for that at least the rest of us owe them thanks. A little distance back from the leading pack was Gifted Pilgrims (Chaos Spawn), among the most unique teams in CIBBL. Despite a positive trend of results, including winning their Summer tournament, they struggled with the step up in class and could only manage 5th though did finish with a scary 11+ Cas difference and several recent "promotions" will make them even more frightening in the future. Rounding things off were the fearsome yet injury ravaged Corpse Run Nightmares (Strigoi) in 6th who sadly suffered bad luck both with casualties and on the field and the ancient and hugely popular True Roots of Khain (Treemen) in 7th who lost founding member and one of the longest serving players in CIBBL Larix Darkbark with 138 games to his name. RIP to a true league legend.

Silver

Silver was home to some of the most famous teams in CIBBL. Modryns Midnight Meddlers (Wood Elf) have competed almost since the very beginning and are one of the most decorated teams still with us with the indomitable Ynys Morien Mabsantwyr (Four Nations) not far behind them. Both are hugely popular and draw legions of spectators to their games. Also breaking the 100 game barrier are Wraiths of Woe (Dryad) and Accomplishers of Phar's Will (Mahrak) with Aethyric Humours (Air Elemental) sure to join this select club in Spring. Nevertheless, again it was the relative new boys Knights of the Blazing Sun (Myrmidia) who took the honours with their tight all-round game with Wraiths a point behind in 2nd after losing their final match against the Accomplishers who were 3rd. The Meddlers came 4th with the Karak Kadrin Oathkeepers (Slayer) in 6th who's terrifying +14 Cas difference shows exactly where the sawn off ginger nutters' priorities lay. 5th went to the Garbagemen (Daemons of Nurgle) who are sadly retiring permanently to their rubbish dump after a long, valiant and smelly career of violence and foul play. Aethyric Humours were 7th and struggled after suffering terrible attrition in their last few seasons with Mabsantwyr enduring a string of unlucky defeats to end up 8th.

Gold

Finally, we come to Gold, the pinnacle of the CIBBL prestige rankings and home to the hardest, fastest, most skilled and down right nightmare teams in the entire league. No newbies here, every single team was a longtime and hard bitten veteran of countless campaigns and their names are among the most famous and storied across the Old World and the New.

Coven of the Mirrored Hall (Tzeentch) have been around since the very start and have also been competing among the top divisions for longer than most teams have even been in existence. Nevertheless they just couldn't get going this time round and struggled to score, only crossing the white line 3 times and finished 8th though they did have the consolation of beating the Vultures in their last game. Next were Vlad's Vampheroes (VonCarstein) who had dreadful luck with casualties, suffering an eye watering 22 over the course of the season. They received a body blow in game 3, vs the Everlasting Vultures of Settra with their legendary vampire and team captain Abel Sturm being killed. They never recovered and trailed in 7th. Abel was one of the greatest players ever seen and had carved a bloody trail through CIBBL for 135 games. He will be missed. 6th were last year's Gold Division winners the Misty Island Gators (Fimir). They are still rebuilding after some dreadful casualties to the core of their team earlier in the year and this Autumn came too soon for them to challenge at their usual high level. They'll be back.

Coming in 5th were the legendary Najaz Djinn (Araby) and despite the iron Sheik being one of the most experienced players still handling a ball (voted most foulable player a record 5 times!) this is anything but a one-man team. Like the Coven though, they just didn't quite click this season and this combined with some bad luck saw them finish in mid-table which considering they've been absent from Gold Div for several years isn't actually that bad. 4th were Everlasting Vultures of Settra (Zandri). There are very few teams with a worse reputation for team smashing violence than the Vultures and they are one of the most feared outfits around with their ancient captain Imir'Zhan leading the line with his mighty lieutenant Guleth at his side. Still, sometimes you have to play smart as well as hard and that takes us to Gasparossa B.B.C. (Human). The men from Tilea have had some ups and downs over the years but have put together a really effective outfit this season. Their only stand out legend is team captain Castelvetro but the rest of the team are greater than the sum of their parts and a 3rd place finish in this year's Gold division was well deserved.

The battle for Gold came down to 2 teams, Wolf Lands Slavers (Hobgoblin Slavers) and Dark Room Delights (Slannesh). The Slavers had won their last tournament in Summer in imperious style and were the form team. Their front line of 4 monstrous Black Orks carried on where they'd left off and helped the team to an awesome +17 Cas rating for the Autumn, the greatest by some margin of any team in the whole league. Delights came 2nd behind Nejaz Djinn in their Summer competition and were on the Slavers' coat tails all the way through Autumn.

It was destiny that the 2 best teams of CIBBL would meet in their final game to decide who would take the trophy. The Ref blew his whistle and the Slannesh heavy hitters struck early, taking out the mighty Sugz Snarlof with their team going on to take the lead on the stroke of half-time. Sugz is possibly the most fearsome blocker in the entire league and his loss that early proved to be a decisive blow. Despite an early 2nd half rally, the Slavers couldn't equalise and in fact the Delights turned the ball over late on and ran out 2-0 winners.

So, Dark Room Delights are crowned the best team in CIBBL for year XII, they are worthy winners. Commiserations to the Wolf Land Slavers, they'll be back stronger than ever in Spring.

In shock news that has rocked the sporting world, the Delights announced they'll be retiring to their pleasure palaces for at least the next year. We can all hope they'll be back before too long.

We have many new teams joining the competition for next year including several never before seen Elf teams and a return of the exciting Ogre Kingdoms and Daemons of Khorne line ups, new stories will be written and hearts broken, we can’t wait.

That concludes our round up for the CIBBL Autumn Season, if you've got this far, thank you, well done and see you at the end of Spring where we'll see how all the exciting new teams and grizzled old veterans are shaping up.
